I'm not too upset with this. We needed a wake up call. Impressed how we only let 1 try in the second half, but our attack was a bit too much side to side.
I dunno what to make of the Broncos this season, they've probably had one of the easiest draws to date and the two classiest opposition teams they've come up against imo (Cowboys & Warriors) they've lost to. You could make an argument that the Rabbits & Dragons are strong teams this year but I don't see them being much more than middle of the pack teams this year.
St George are a good side; they deserve credit for their victory against them, especially in the way they just totally blew them away early on. And I say that as the biggest Broncos 2012 sceptic out there. Souths are meh though.
I predicted that we'd finish 4th, and I'm still sticking by that. We are definitely going to get better by the last 3rd of the season. The biggest problem is that lack of understanding between our spine, but that'll come with time IMO. Yow Yeh out for the season is a big blow though. Partially because he's by far our best winger, and partially because Beale has no chance of getting demoted now.
Actually another weakness that can't be just fixed with time is our middle 3rd defence. It's been really bad all season. I think Warriors scored half of their tries through just simple one out runs.
I really haven't rated them so far this year, Soward still has them playing way too deep and their long, delayed, predictable spreads are easy for any half decent team to defend. They show a bit up the middle playing off Rein but apart from that they really struggle imo. They're just a poorly coached version of Brisbane imo, neither I really rate as genuine title contenders. In saying all that they have been competitive all year and the way Brisbane disposed of them in the first half was impressive.
Haven't been much angrier watching a game. Cummins is the worst ref in the world, at any sport. He is almost as bad as reffing, as Beale is at playing. The penalty early for offside against McCullough? Pushing Gillett back into the ingoal on the 4th attempt. The video ref missing the offside in the Taylor try. There were about 4 other seriously fucked decisions that I can't think of right now. Refs had a major influence on the result.
