I haven't read the Ellie Chronicles. Everyone I asked told me it just ruins everything, so I decided against it.

  3. Jakester A Pimpkins

You're supposed to read it after, and I've also been told it's shit.

  4. Storer BA Storer

Yeah, I know. Didn't even bother.

  5. Clank CL Ank

Almost finished with Unseen Academicals, been reading it to and from work.

Tuesday's With Morrie is a top read. Excellent life lessons in there and stuff, pretty well written and an enjoyable read.

The Ellie Chronicles were meh. I could see what he was trying to pull off but it just didn't come through for me personally. There were some good bits though.

  8. Farny AP Farnsworth

Finally finished Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Anyone else read them?

I think my next book is going to be something a bit academic.

Everyone should read Jessica Watsons book, yours truly gets a few mentions.

Jessica Watson is a mere prostitute. She's now a multi-millionaire, and why? Because she sailed around the world and apparently that makes you a hero. Not volunteering in Gaza or the West Bank, or championing freedom of speech in Turkey, or defying the Mullahs in Iran. Sailing a ****ing boat for the sensationalist media to make money out of and for you.

Incidentally, she didn't even meet the requirements for the record that people keep saying she now holds - Only about 2000 miles short. lol.

I don't doubt what she did took courage. But she's not a hero and reading a ghost-written non-fiction account is like reading, well, the drivel from the institutions which keep saying we should be doing cartwheels for her - The tabloids.

Would she have done such a thing had fame and fortune not been on offer? I very much doubt it.

Could you not say that about a lot of peoples books

    Athletes
    Actors
    Musicians

    etc

They've been made multi millionaires by playing sport, being in films, making music. Not volunteering....

Would they have done it if not for the fame and fortune

    Same sort of idea.

    Obviously not the prostitue part

I agree there'd be plenty of them who do it only for money - Don't see how that makes them heroes.

Ye, my main point was about complaining about the book and saying its drivel. People who wouldnt have gone into their career if not for the fame/fortune have still had great books come out of it, footballers/boxers all sorts of sports stars.

Seem to be just a bit quick to dismiss it

Unless of course you've already read it and were making a comparison as to how you felt about it after

Russell Brand My Booky Wook 2. Love it. Pretty amazing how far he's come.

Also; seeing I'm almost finished it and I've gotten back into reading again - is there any books that anyone can recommend me? Along the thriller sort of genre would be heaps awesome.

I read the preface/blurb. Hyperbolic sensationalism.

    Here you are.

    Edge of you seat stuff.:p
