Reckon the Broncos 97 backline > their 98 one. Was the same but Mundine instead of Smith (who was a second rower usually)
Yeah thinking more about it, its hard to pip Raiders 89. Matthew Wood is the only player in the back 5 that wasn't absolutrly top tier.
Yeah Smith was a much better centre than Mundine. Both were better in other positions but Smith was a better player in general and also spent longer at centre.
More to do with Tedesco going to another level tbh and I think a lot of people slept on Daniel Tupou's season last year, he was exceptional.
At least you've got some big game experience in there. I'll never forget Panthers going from Ryan Girdler as a staple at centre to going for a first choice pairing of Franze & Pomeroy To say nothing of the '06 roster of Lee Hookey, O'Halloran, Youngquest & co being steered by Craig Trindall in 7.
I don't know what it was about Youngquest but I always thought the was a good player growing up then turned on him when I saw the light.
I feel like this thread has put a jynx on the Roosters. Daniel Tupou, Billy Smith, Joseph Manu & Joseph Suaalii - a pretty good backline for club level all out injured for finals week 2 And just to cap it off, young kid who plays centre with a lot of hype and probably good chance of debuting did his ACL at training last week.
They're not world beaters, but being able to bring in Momirovski and Allan is pretty good depth. Both played done big games
