I wore earphones to a soccer match at the 2010 WC. It was recommended to us because of the vuvuzelas! I think it was a good choice
You would be an idiot not to wear earplugs to gigs if you attend them reguarly. I am therefore an idiot.
Yeah realy good live, seen them a couple of times, could never really listen to their music not live though.
I go to concerts, maybe two or three times a year. I don't wear earplugs but I have considered it because sometimes the sound mix is pretty bad. I don't think two or three a year will damage my hearing too bad, but yeah, if you went every few weeks you might want to.
My hearings deteriorated in the last year from using a sanding disk on the angle grinder at work when stripping some paint back, didn't have muffs on and have had a few problems since.
Well I dunno about you but I actually like to be able to tell what song they are playing, my hearing is that sensitive that without ear plugs it is that loud I can't even recognise the song the distortion mainly contributes to that. Nothing wrong with using ear plugs whatsoever. As I said it depends on the sort of gig, if it is a pub type gig then more likely you don't need them but it is idiotic to not wear them at major concerts. Especially if one regularly attends them. I saw Rose Tattoo at a club a month back, that one I didn't need plugs for, wasn't so loud I couldn't recognise the music. Children of Bodom and Ac/dc are different stories, I don't care what people say I would rather keep my hearing in tact.
I enjoy the energy of a gig whilst still being able to differentiate songs. No point in going to a gig if all you can hear is a wall of noise drowned out by distortion IMO. Earplugs cut out all the distortion leaving only the important bits of the music while also saving your hearing. >_>
I said it earlier. But if you go to enough gigs then its a good idea to wear earplugs. I dont wear them which is stupid. I go to 1-3 gigs a week and have loud band prac 1-2 times a week. Ears are really suffering atm.
