I'm pretty certain Dwyer is employed by either the Tigers or the NRL as a youth development officer or something along those lines. He was a year or so ago when I last saw a story on him. He's definitely being looked after. And to SM; Dwyer isn't a fucking quadriplegic either. His injury resulted in a severe nerve injury in his shoulder meaning he has a very, very long road to recovery as nerves take a long, long time to grow and recover.
There is PR involved in everything but this is such a fucking naive statement. There are so many levels to it....one is probably trying to minimise possible lawsuits down the track, the other is just providing compensation. I just don't understand what you're getting at. If a Coles Employee got severely crushed by a faulty forklift and rendered paraplegic, should they get the same level of compensation as a bloke employed by the same company that slipped on a spill and badly broke his ankle?
Yeah this. If it's Newy then good on them, it's an awesome thing to do. If it's the NRL then it's ludicrous, unless they're gonna give jobs and name a round after everyone with a severe injury. I get that he's a more serious case than most, but still.
Ludicrous is a bit overboard. I can understand people if they think it's a bit much or are cynical of the NRL's motives, but it's not a ridiculous move AFAIC.
Yo Julian! Yo' think yo' can post? Compared to me, your bitch ass is toast. I'll pound your mumma like a 5 kilo pork roast When ma baby girl cries 'stop' I'll point her to your threads She'll read half a page then wish you were dead! She give good head, I can't deny Don't fuck wit me bitch, you ain't got no reply!
You really looked into this one didn't you Jules? http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...nyone-at-the-nrl/story-fni3fbgz-1226902619156
You're putting words in my mouth there mate, if it were Newcastle that offered him a job for life I'd be all for it. Instead it's the governing body. Afterwards, Newcastle made a big show and dance about honouring his faux-contract, which will be outside the salary cap. What benefit is there parading that sort of thing about other than milking the media? Meanwhile, many other players who's career has been cut short by injury have been left out in the lurch. By everyone. It's one thing to offer McKinnon a job, it's another thing to guarantee him a job for life. I don't think it's appropriate. It is cynical, and it's no secret that I don't agree with the way this has been handled but I'm not out to get Alex McKinnon.
The correct way to approach compensation (which is all this is) is to have a retired players fund set up that covers treatment for any injury occasioned during a players career, that can only be accessed upon retirement.
As far as I know the Rise for Alex round is fundraising for a fund for NRL players in the future suffering similar fates to Alex...
