Surely he'll never get another job coaching league again. Surely.

The funniest thing is, this is probably the time in his career he deserved the sack the least. They have been doing better than expected since the resumption of the season.

Er not really. They made the 8 in 2018.

Surprised he went before McGregor, Green, Morris or Pay.

I never rated him as a coach but their form recently hasn't been that bad, surprised it's happened now. Still, can't say he didn't deserve the sack.

It's a little strange after 6 rounds and some very unfortunate circumstances.

Admittedly I don't rate him as a coach but he's been dealt the shittest hand of all the NRL clubs since COVID and really when you look at their 2 & 4 record they've lost to sides you would expect them to and won the games you would expect them to.

So I can only assume there's something else that's gone on behind the scenes or the owners are delusional about the capabilities of the squad he had at his disposal.

Can't wait to see their next coach. I bet they pick David Kidwell haha. Isaac Luke will probably be after that.

Theyre not gonna make the 8 with Kearney. They'll just bumble around for months losing 3 or 4 for every game they win. Might as well get rid of him and maybe salvage the season. They need a total rebuild tho.

Stop making heritage and nationality your recruitment policy would be a start.

Yes you're right. Them making the 8 2 years ago is relevant to them winning games after the shutdown, when nobody expected them to challenge anyone outside of Titans/Dogs.

Nobody thinks Kearney is a good coach. This is the only time in his career where you can see him being a bit hard done by with getting the sack.

They should've just sacked him as soon as the management coup happened. The timing is seriously weird.

    Good outcome for them though.

God you chat shit. You're the one who brought up his whole career, spaz.

They were 6 points clear of 9th and were equal on 32 with the three teams ahead of them. Yeah he totally deserved it more back then, than now.

Yeah the amount of wins they had in 2018 would've often been enough to finish Top 4. They were only a win and differential away from the Minor Premiership.....

Paul Green about to join him? Being down 34-0 to Wests of all teams is.....

    Dire.

    We are 2-2 since covid

Our CEO is mentally retarded and believes we can win the comp with our current guys if we "try harder"
He says that the key reason we finished 13th last year instead of the top 4 is that the guys didn't commit at training or try hard enough on the field.

He made a fuckwit speech around christmas time telling the players we could win the comp and show the whole world if we pulled finger. And my favourite quote of the speech was how he ended it.
"So I am asking you all to try harder. Now I don't think that is too much to ask now is it?"

    Complete tool.

So I would say Kearney got fired because we aren't on track to make the 8 at this stage and Cameron George believes we can still win the grand final if we act now.

The past month have been Kearney's finest work. He has made inspired team selection decisions including very brave decisions to sit incumbent players like Isaiah Papali'i out even though they weren't making any errors.

Todd Payten his current assistant is the replacement Interim coach. It raised eyebrows when he came to the Warriors or at least it raised mine as he was overqualified to be an assistant coach to Kearney. So maybe there was a back room lobbying and ambition from Payten.

"Hey Cameron, I can get the Warriors into the top eight, why not give me a go" but said in much more sleek fashion.

Payten performance since coming to the Warriors has been horse shit. He was a prop in his playing days but unfathomably agreed to be offensive coach. The first two games of this season we scored zero points followed by 6 points in the next.

Kearney was a great coach at coaching great players and hence he was doing better recently as the warriors through the recruiting efforts of Peter O'Sullivan have suddenly a decent squad. IMHO they have the second most exciting group of forward prospects/upside potential, behind Broncos, in the NRL, this meant he suddenly was able to more clearly discern the best starting line up to play.
On the other side of the coin, Kearney's major weakness is his inability to pick the better player out of two mediocre choices and will usually go with the guy who trains hard and has a can do attitude. Even though this paradigm leads him to picking a midget and prank player like Jazz Tevanga consistently in his starting line up and resigning him for 3 years.

There is no sense to firing him now, however there was no sense to keeping him on this season either. In the end justice has been done on someone who has no place coaching in the NRL since each squad does have mediocre players. He does have a future at international level and would be happy to have him back for the Kiwis.

    Thanks for your service Stephen.

you can tell the mentality difference between us and teams like the Roosters. admittedly injuries fucked us a bit, but teams like them win that game 56-0 not 36-20

AFL player has tested positive to covid so we'll get to see how that plays out. Might want to get the Storm out of Melbourne asap.

Super high quality football here. As good as it gets.

This is a cracker of a match. Makes the previous few look like park footy.

Superb defence by Easts. Keary and Crighton are the only weaker links. Other than that there's no way through.
