The bench is the same sort of shit Mal picked in Games II and III last year to be fair. Three second rowers and a halfback. I actually think it's probably a better bench than what Mal went for in those games because Guerra has at least actually performed in the middle third at club level.

Papalii performed solidly there at Origin level.

Yeah indeed but they didn't know that before they picked him there as part of an all second rower bench. It was speculative.

    It was Qld Spirit.

    You're a fuckwit then.

Not as big a fuckwit as a Pearce supporter though.

    Magic. Pathetic.

It's pretty hard to support Melbourne as get too fired up when Queensland win. Especially with Pearce in the team. I reckon Laurie is smoke screening, he'll go with Pearce & Maloney for sure.

Doesn't Flack say this every year?

Most years - I skipped the occasional one.

DT running this as the likely QLD side

    LIKELY MAROONS TEAM: B Slater, B Tate, G Inglis, J Hodges, D Boyd, J Thurston, C Cronk, M Scott, C Smith (c), N Myles, B Te’o, M Gillett, C Parker. interchange: D Cherry-Evans, C McQueen, J Papalii, A Guerra.

    That's a terrible pack.

But not as bad as having Pearce in the side.

Can't believe I'm in the position to say this but I don't know that I would be all that unhappy if Papalii was dropped for Lillyman, which is apparently what will happen if the former doesn't impress for Canberra tomorrow. At least we'd have another genuine prop.

Wtf is with this second rower obsession? I really like Guerra but FMD if he should be in the QLD side. The balance is ridiculous. I get the mobility shit and we have been caught out for going to heavy at times but this is just an invitation to the Blues to pick a monster pack and roll over us. That's certainly why the NSW side I selected was enormous.

With Bird & Cordner out it could be potentially the worst collective effort between QLD & NSW for second rowers picked in the history of SOO.

I just don't get the fascination behind players like Teo & Mcqueen. Surely I'm not the only one who thinks they're just good club level players? At least I can see the appeal with Gillett & Guerra. The irony being that Papalii is the one who may miss out, the most talented of them all.

Yeah. McQueen and Teo are shocking picks. I don't mind Guerra being there. Slot Lillyman and McGuire into that side for those two and it takes it to another level.

I don't think McQueen played at all badly last year so I can see something there. But no, he should not have been picked then and he should not be picked now. Te'o, I've never understood either. Gillett's probably one of the most talented second rowers in attack in the NRL but his defence still really worries me. Having him defending alongside Hodges and Cronk, two players notorious for coming up and in is not a good idea.

NSW's backrow will probably be Hoffman, Watmough/Merrin, and Scott. That's pretty ordinary.

Word is Hodkinson and Reynolds are very close to replacing Pearce/Maloney.

Also Tony Williams is to be picked apparently along with Beau Scott. This becomes even more likely with Cordner's injury tonight.

And apparently the Morris boys will play right side. So you'd think it's out of Richards and Tupou to partner Jennings.

I think we'll see Hoffman, Merrin and Watmough all there. And depending on who plays in the halves, possibly Reynolds on the bench.

Would be pretty funny, though not unusual, if Hodkinson got picked to wear the NSW no.7 after all the talk and conjecture about who Daley will pick, when he couldn't even make City/Country.

Man this is gonna be the lowest quality origin I've ever watched.

    so many shit players.
