I dunno if this was scripted, but he did look pissed off when they tried to claim him as a NSW supporter. Stormed off like a true QLDer!

If you had to name each state's five most dangerous players, who would they be?

    For QLD I'd say:
Greg Inglis, Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk.

    For NSW I'd say:
Jarryd Hayne, Todd Carney, Brett Stewart, Robbie Farah, Greg Bird (when he plays on the fringe).

Injury and poor selections sees NSW with only 2 of the 5. Gotta be hard to win games like that. Which is why I always said, knowing that we are offensively/creatively superior to NSW, if we tackle well, we are so much harder to beat. Defence has been going downhill for a while now. Glad to see it improved in Game 2. Needs to be replicated tonight. Nothing disgusts me more than tries like the one Jennings scored. Absolutely no creative merit. Should not have happened.

    NSW:
    Hayne, Carney, Jennings, Farah, Lewis

How the fuck is Jennings more dangerous than Stewart ya cunt? :p

I've been absolutely amazed over the years by how few times Jennings has managed to get around Hodges. He's so fucking slow, you'd think a cunt with his pace would get some early ball and just run rings around him. Hodges's defence is a lot better in Origin than in club footy, particularly post-2008 but it's still pretty ordinary.

Say what you will about Jennings but the cunt does create chances and is dangerous with the ball in hand. His decision making lets him down though.

I thought Stewart was showing signs of slowing during last years series, but on reflection he's probably still one of the more dangerous players at NSW's disposal.

Johnathan Thurston has been the top point scorer in Origin for 6 of the last 7 years.

    2006 - 14
    2007 - 11 *Inglis 12
    2008 - 20
    2009 - 24
    2010 - 24
    2011 - 20
    2012 - 22

2013 - 10 so far. Which is an average of 5 per game. His overall average is 5.77 per game. To get it up to that he would need to kick 3 goals and a field goal. Obviously that means QLD win again by a point, 19-18. :p Boyd is leading this year on 12.

Thurston needs 12 tonight to overtake Meninga as Origin's greatest point scorer. A try and 4 goals would do nicely.

At club level maybe. He hasn't created much at Origin level (except passes that go 3m forward :p)

  10. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

Well he can score 3 and miss all the goals as the blues get up 36-12 inspired by a Michael Jennings quaddie, asserting himself as one of NSW's most dangerous players.

Merrin has actually be pretty good off the bench for us this year, particularly in a losing cause in Game II. He wasn't great in Game I but he certainly wasn't poor either. He was terrible when he played earlier but he clearly wasn't ready; he's a much improved player at club level this year and he's transferred that improvement. Still waiting for him to start producing some second phase but I think that'll come with confidence.

    QLD, in order

    Hodges, Gillett, Parker, Inglis, Smith

  14. Magic AJ Parker

If Barba isnt in Qlds 5 most dangerous players then I must be watching a different game.

    Pre-match entertainment is ...HARRISON CRAIG!

Fuck I hate Channel 9. What is this, the tenth origin a row featuring a voice 'superstar?'

I don't know about that. I mean for one thing he's never played Origin. So it's hard to know. As you know club footy is very different to Origin. Matty Bowen for example was deadly in his day but he never really translated it into Origin.

  18. Paddy P Orr

Bowen's game in 2007 was not bad though to be fair but I agree apart from that he seemed out of his depth in Origin.

Matt Russell just mentioned a stat that I'd never heard before which I find absolutely astonishing. Of the 16 deciders in Origin history, QLD have won 10, there have been 2 draws, and NSW have won only 4. 4 ffs. That is just incredible in a two horse race over 30 years to have only won 25%. NSW didn't win a decider until 1992, the year after Lewis retired. Mr. Daley was captain that year.

    Decider success
NSW: 1992, 1994, 2004, 2005. Just can't get over how bad their record is. Never knew that.
    QLD: 1982, 1983, 1987, 1991, 1998, 2001, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2012.

25% of 16 in a two horse race isn't that impressive.
