I think Easts put themselves under pressure by giving away penalties and thus getting Souths halves in range. I'm not saying he didn't kick well (mind you not as well as Ray Warren would have you believe), but he's too one dimensional. He offers nothing with the ball in hand.
I had Souths struggling somewhat this year but it's all dependant on GI imo. He's the difference between this side being top 4 and bottom 4.
He's definitely extremely overrated, and the Roosters fucked themselves over even more than Souffs, but his short kicking game in the first half was a pretty big part of their win IMO.
GI making them a top 4 side, yeah. But saying without him they are a bottom 4 team is the big call IMO.
