    raiders have pretty much confirmed mccrone will play hooker only with Cornish and campese in the halves. ahearn has trained in the halves as well and will probably play a bit of first grade this year. wighton has trained there as well but will start the season at centre.

    They're either playing significantly under the cap this year or someone's getting a shit load of money they don't deserve.

    I have no doubt some of its gone to resigning Lee, Wighton and co. They would have been on lower tier contracts so needed upgrading to keep them.

    I'd figure there should be half a mil sitting there or there abouts. It makes no sense to buy anyone for the sake of it so I'd be using the surplus to pay contracts for next year leaving some extra room in the cap next season where there are a lot more significant off contract players.

    Yeh i get the upgrades and rep bonuses which lots of clubs had to pay out due to the World Cup in 2013 but with a salary cap that continues to increase and a significant exodus of players I'd be surprised if there's not more than that saved up their sleeve.

    I'm just surprised they've picked up no one of any real note and I certainly wouldn't have any faith in Stuart's past recruitment credentials.

    Which he declined to sign with Brisbane..
