In my 3 full seasons of activity with the all stars (ie the only 3 full seasons I've played in a good team with a decent bowling attack [Surkleton is a downgrade on Funkotron but the point remains the same]) I took 166 wickets @ an average under 30. Our first XI is much closer to the All Stars I played with in terms of quality than it is to the Lions. At the Stars we generally had Funkotron, Bulpitt and myself + the all rounders. And just on the batting... Read may be labelled a failure but he still averages over 35 which is all we really need outside our top 4. Plus he was decent last year and he chips in with the ball now and then. Popovic is in the same boat as Read thus far but he seems a better bowler. O'Driscoll is one of the better keeper bats. The depth isn't great but there is some potential there IMO. Definitely not a team that should be written off from finals contention. You can write the ALC off at the drop of the hat and tbh that's why the off season teams went so terribly.
Exactly. The Pumas have three of the best fasties in the game in Lover, Man and Wilkinson. Then you add in a solid spinner in either Hunt or Oz and that is a rep like attack. The Saders have four rep standard bowlers in Tyson, Rocker, Kovas and Wilson. Then you add in a rookie and that's a tremendous bowling attack. As for the Rays, I'm quietly confident. Myself and Farny are two of the absolute top echalon in the game and then you add in there some up and coming bowlers who will all be pushing each other for spots and I like our bowling line up more and more as the season approaches. Then, finally, you take a look at the Gamblers. There's no doubting that Bullpitt is top notch, but what is there after him? Surkelton circa season 5 was absolute class but now he's just a run of the mill quick. Taylor has shown what he can do and if he can put behind him last season, I expect him to rebound with a good season averaging in the high 20's. Hallett is shit though and relying on Popovic as your third seamer is laden with problems.
Can't believe the vipers bowling isn't getting talked up as being up there How do you class a class bowler? Is it done on wickets taken or ranking or average? Vipers have a fairly solid attack this season but we only have one bowler on the verge of class which is Eggman still early in his career but if he follows up this season he'll be in that catogory then you have Blunder leading from the other end has quite a high average for a quick but meh he takes the wickets which is what I'd rather from my other opening bowler then we have me who normally chips in 1-2 wickets an innings @ about 33-34 and an econ of 2.7 odd + Storer and Devonshire who had blistering seasons with the ball last season 48 @ 37.13 and 40@37.90 respectively which from allrounders who aren't the best in the field is awesome. If injuries occur we are pretty well covered Smith who is a seasoned ALC veteran now tokk 43 @ 25.16 and Darts had an alright season for the Pumas ALC side 44@27.20 If everyone pulls there wieght again this season we will be contenders just lack that experienced quick which nearly every other side has atleast one of.
It's more solid than flash though. Eggman's your big weapon but he's still a little unproven. Around him is Devonshire, Storer, Bots and blunder. All are capable but none are brilliant.
