Just to give you an idea of what needs to be resolved before I will start this back up: 1) Battles - In the last edition I did all of the battling myself on Pokemon Showdown. This ended up being very time consuming and I don't really want to have to do that again. I've had a look around and there doesn't seem to be any good Pokemon battle AI that I can download and use. I will not be attempting to write my own. 2) Updating the data - This was the other time consuming aspect of the the last edition, where I had to manually do some of the updating. This time around I'll be writing a program to make sure that there is minimal manual work on my part required.
Making a Pokemon battle AI would be brutal but fun. I'd do it myself but I have enough half-finished simulators to finish already.
The correct response was to remember how Gen I would use "super effective" type moves only against your pokemon. Even if they aren't 'attacking moves'. Twitch Plays Pokemon Venomoth > Lance's Dragonite Got stuck in an infinite loop of using the psychic moves agility and barrier against the poison type.
Gen I was just shit overall. Tbf, it's amazing how much they managed to fit into the small memory of the old gameboy cartridges, but looking back at it now most of their systems were really badly designed. It's why I like Gen II the best. They improved on a lot of these systems while not introducing too many new things.
Yeah very few dire things were in Gen II, Unown probably being the most dire thing. Best games by a long way. The only downside is that no starter trio has been as awesome as Charmander/Bulbasaur/Squirtle.
