I didn't like that either (see my previous post), but I wasn't as ridiculous as someone who has never played before playing, so I lived with it.
It is very arguable that Witters is better than Himann given what you've previously said about ALC vs. OCC vs. BS. Yet, you rage at us for ignoring your directions but don't rage at anyone else. Yeah, proportionate response.
We are prepared to go Coup de tat all over everyone ass. You can take our pride but you'll never take our willingness to coup de tat.
I hadn't really considered the offseason at all when I thought it out. My role is to make sure the CricSim competition simulates how a real-life competition would work, and intervene when something that has absolutely no real-life equivalent happens. The biggest issue facing CricSim in terms of realism is that people are all too aware of how it works and have started to make predictive selections based on activity rather than performance. The challenge for me is balancing the need to reward active players with the need to maintain realism and reward selectors who can analyse actual performance instead of just looking at the activity rankings, which is why past performances are now a bigger factor and we now have the random ability factor. My thinking was that a player who wasn't good enough at any point last season to even make the Second XI would not be in the frame for Round 1 over players like Armstrong and Olsen no matter "how well he trained" or "how good he looked in the nets", however you do make a good point about the offseason comp. You could argue that Himann's excellent performances in that would, in real life situation, allow him an opportunity here in a trial. So, fair enough I guess. I think the issue more than anything is that the Care Cup has First Class status. When it was introduced virtually all active players played First Class cricket anyway so it wasn't a big deal, but now that it's something that's earned through performance, what the clubs want to do with the competition doesn't quite match up with the overall impression of First Class cricket here.
Benny's President this season though isn't he? Should just remove the CoS, make himself CoS, post the lineup, and re-instate them.
I'm going to be a hard arse about that shit this season. You appoint a CoS. He gets the job done. If he doesn't then the club will face penalties. He's free to give other people lineup rights as well.
