Wii was good for... half an hour while bowling was interesting. After that, gay as fuck.

Someone doesn't like innovation in video games.

I don't like 3d either though tbh. Still, Sony and Microsoft have included it in their consoles through an update as soon as it became the newest fad, when hardly anyone can make use of it. At least Nintendo is making it available to everyone and it can be turned off.

Motion Controls have proven to be good and Microsoft and Sony again jumped onto the bandwagon once they saw how popular it is.

Really, they haven't been so much using new gimmicks in their technologies, its the others who are.

I think Motion controls are a complete gimmick, rather then innovation. Mainstream gamers don't sit down to play on a console, just for them to have to get up and run around the room whilst they do. Fine for casual/party gamers but not much else.

Same as 3D TV, maybe in 20 years it'll be the norm.

Innovation? This shit is straight out the the 80s... Nintendo power glove, shitty 3d glasses for movies was all the rage.... Going backwards, but slightly improved, is not innovation.

Nintendo hasn't introduced anything 3d on the Wii u, that's Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo have said that they wouldn't consider putting 3d on their consoles untill the adoption rate was at least 30%. Then, it would be just a matter of taking advantage of the hardware people have at home, not making it a new gimmick.

The difference now is that the technology is much improved and you can do all these things effectively and it actually works. No 3d glasses are needed for the Nintendo solution, yet they are for the PS3 and Xbox.

Motion Controls are good for casual party games, I agree. Nintendo have found a market and targetted it. I see nothing wrong with that. The Wii isn't one-sided though, you can play games that don't require these controls at all, e.g. New Super Mario Bros Wii, or that only use them occasionally, i.e. Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.

I wouldn't say that they're just hopping onto what's popular. Far from it. With introducing touch screens into gaming products, they were the first one, and now things such as the Vita and the iphone/iPod are copying them because of this success. Motion controls are the same. 3D is slightly different but that's not to do with how to interact with games, more with viewing them.

Calling the iPhone games a rip off of Nintendo is laughable.. The iphone touch system wasn't developed with gaming as the primary focus. Perhaps secondary.

So you take one part of my argument and just laugh at it while ignoring the rest.

With regards to the iPhone and iPod, Apple saw the potential of touch screens through things such as the NDS I feel.

It's just a gameboy + Wii in one. Completely pointless gimmick.

Iwas talking about Nintendo in general though, not the Wii U... 3DS should ring some bells.

NSMB Wii actuall needs you to shake the wiimote.

Other's are adopting it because of sheepling. That doesn't make it a good idea, or good for the industry, even.

You can't say it's pointless until you've tried it or had a look at what Nintendo are doing with it. By the same logic I could argue that PS3 = PS2 but with souped up graphics, and likewise with the xbox. That's the only difference between them.

Personally I don't like the 3DS either, but you can't say that it's just Nintendo trying to cash in on this fad, with Sony and Microsoft also updating their software just to get more customers with the added 3d.

Didn't know that about NSMBWii but the point still stands, there are games that don't require the motion controls or you can choose to turn them off.

The touch screen and motion controls are introducing a whole new generation to video games, with more people playing them. I don't really see how these new innovations into how we play games are bad. If you don't want to use them then just play the PS3.

I heard it is compatible and since the Wii is and this plays Wii games it's probably likely to be true.

Don't like the idea of a screen on the remote...
