Played Portal? Not really a 'strategy' game, more a puzzle game, but one of the best games ever released IMO.
Trailers looked good. I've never been someone to look too far into trailers however. Definitely shows a somewhat eccentric (I suppose you'd say) group of pirates on the Island (Vaas especially) I've seen gameplay videos but once again it's hard to judge your opinion on a game with a 5 minute gameplay video. That's why it'll be interesting to see what you think for example. Playing the game from a gamer's view rather than a reviewers. Reviews are just a good guidance. I probably will pick it up. I doubt I'll be disappointed from what I've heard and seen.
Perhaps it's just me being a nitpicky wanker but after playing Call of Duty titles, I feel like lots of FPS games lack the fluidity of movement/framerate compared to it... games can feel really sluggish to me because of that!
Yeah that's most definitely probably the case. I mean there's no doubting that games like the Call of Duty titles are generally the forefront of FPS games. I, however don't have the problem of comparing games with COD and the like because I'm a story focused gamer rather than multiplayer. So I've always stayed away from games like COD which is definitely known as having pretty poor story lines (well for the latest instalments at least)
COD uses the same graphics engine as Quake 2 and the maps are roughly about 10x10m. Of course it's not going to lag.
Yeah when you say the forefront, they're definitely the most popular along with Halo (why did they reboot the storyline, FFS!). Modern Warfare, WaW and MW2 all had good campaigns, ones that kept you on the edge of your seat for the eight hours they went for. They do have a really good feel screen and control-wise though, something that made returning to Halo 3 really difficult seeing as it's got about half the framerate (60 for CoD, 30 for H3 I think).
