    You could just assume that previous names were actually different stadiums within the same "region" as the respective clubs? I mean, most real world Provinces or States have more than one first class ground.

    I guess you could even allow every club to have a second ground (ideally one they've previously used) for which they could set a different pitch, but can only use it for one home game per season. Kind of like the festival type fixtures in County Cricket.
