Yeah, I'm sure all the true fans will get the shits with us talking about this in here, but I agree. When putting my "tips" in, I'd start thinking about what would make a better story rather than who I thought was better as such. I'd just get so ridiculously frustrated with it and stop following it after about 20 seconds. I guess it's a bit different if you start following it at a really young age and think it's real for a little while, but still, I just don't get how people discuss it seriously like this.
Yeh I can understand kids watching it, when i was young and thought it was real I thought it was awesome, as soon as I discovered it was fixed it lost it's charm. Whenever I watch it now it makes me laugh ITBT. You'll see guys get 'hit' multiple times in the face and then they suddenly out of nowhere pull off an amazing move and win, it's just horribly over the top. I'd much rather watch UFC or boxing but I can understand why people watch it, it shouldn't be veiwed as a sport though, it's much more like a soap opera.
I don't follow it much at all, but I still enjoy it when I do watch it and am interested in seeing who wins. It's like a ****ing TV show, you don't say - "Oh man, I ain't watching this because it's already been scripted.
Which is what I said, it's like a soap opera, which I have no problem with, it just seems incredibly pointless.
I have no problem discussing it when people act like they have half a brain, I just can't stand when ****s come in with comments like "Wrestling iz shit coz it iz fake LOLZ!1!!11". I started watching when I was about 6, my old man never let me believe it was real but I have hectic creativity and imagination and I liked watching fighting, I guess it just stuck, it becomes a habit. A major factor is also seeing if my predictions come true and thinking about what I'd do if I was in charge.
Yeh I can see why people find it interesting, however I don;t like how it's all choreographed. Pretty impressive how the Wrestlers make it seem realistic, remember all the moves in the right order and don't hurt each other in any serious manner.
The execution of their moves is where the fans get the entertainment too not just the moves, choreographed doesnt always mean the moves are fake however but the majority of striking type moves are. Not everyones cup of tea though.
I watched it for a while knowing it was fake. For me, it was like a movie or a TV show basically. Just entertainment ... it's not actually a sport because it is scripted. Anyway, I stopped watching it about 4 or 5 years ago. When Lesnar left, that was it for me and I haven't looked back since.
I enjoyed the film The Backyard, it was all choreographed but was awesome watching these people do harsh shit to each other
You will find that a lot of fans that started from a very young age like myself discuss what is happening in terms of how stupid/good the storyline is that the writers have created aka we discuss outside the box of what we are just watching on TV and not pretending it is all real. A lot of that has to do with the fact that I know a lot of storylines and how they will end and you can predict these things correctly because you have seen them before in the years of watching different brands so things that are new are exciting. On top of that of course when there is a great match it is very entertaining and when wrestlers who you like win and who you hate lose it is even better, it is quite easy to discuss it. See, here is the beauty of the professionalism. For a hell of a lot of wrestlers these days, it is not choreographed anymore. Wrestlers do not have the time to learn every move during a match. They are traveling most days of the week doing house shows constantly. The experienced wrestlers which are in high numbers at the moment in the WWE know each other inside out and pretty much get told before they walk out the following: "You have 20 minutes, this guy is going to win. Good luck" That's it. They pretty much work the show based on their experience and based on getting the best possible result out of the match aka making it as awesome as possible.
Something else I've always wondered.. there are crowds, right? Can you actually go to these 'games' or are the crowd members just random actors?
LOL there are 2 (well 3 but one doesn't count as its the reject show that is taped after the live one) weekly shows that run each week and every show are in different places in America. They are real fans and they sell out every week easily. In saying that, most stadiums there fit only around 14-16K. However, the wrestling fan base is absolutely ginormous. I am pretty sure that the WWE still hold the record for the quickest sell out in any event history when they sold out Wrestlemania a few years ago to 70,000+ people (may have been less, it is dependent on the city and stadium) in about 30 seconds to 1 minute or something like that. The crowds are definitely real.
