Feel like digging up my argument with you about how I wasn't 100% sure he'd be a specialist fullback within modern structures, but actually if anything his reasonable play at five-eighth made me think he'd be more suited to fullback. Good link, excellent support player. As I said at the time though he's an excellent 18-25 type squad member.
If you consider what Widdop is on compared to Quinlan you're really not getting a whole lot more for your money. I still cant get over the fact they paid 600k for Widdop, outside of that their recruitment has been really strong imo
Quinlan was terrible and while I think they'll improve I reckon Widdop is just about the most over rated player in the NRL. Sam Williams is a huge upgrade though. Joel Thompson will be a dud signing I reckon./
Pretty sure i was the only person predicting a souths top 4 finish. so you cunts didn't pick that.......
Brisbane surprised me. I thought for sure they'd stick with Peter Wallace until his contract ran out. Their decision to sack him with a year still to run both surprised and pleasured me at the same time.
Most other posters had them in their top 8. The fact that the Bunnies are your team probably encouraged to to bump them up. I'd be more impressed with a call that the Roosters would make top 4.
They were in my top 4, don't see how they couldn't be after what they showed last year, they were only going to improve.
Yeah exactly, almost everyone was predicting 9th and 10th especially . I am obviously a fan but i haven't/hadn't predicted anything higher than a top 8 sneak in in my life tbh.
Find that hard to believe tbh .......Rabbitohs were definitely being talked into the top 4 at the start of the season Talk of them not even being in the 8 is ridiculous.
Nah, Cribb and MF wrote them and the Rooters off at the start of the year, therefore a lot of others did too. Majority here weren't having either in the top 6 iirc.
lol, I don't think our opinions, mine and Cribb's that is, carry that much weight. Most of my predictions were miles off. The only ones I had remotely close were St. George 15th who finished 14th, Cowboys 7th who finished 8th and Cronulla 4th who finished 5th. And I had Titans 11th (9th), Manly 6th (4th) and Melbourne 1st (3rd). Miles off with Easts, Souths, Broncos, Canberra, Parramatta, Penrith and Newcastle.
IIRC, my 8 was: Melbourne, Canterbury, Newcastle, Cronulla, Brisbane, Manly, Cowboys, Canberra. I'm not overly depressed with 6 from 8.
I think my 8 went: Melbourne, North Queensland, Canterbury, Cronulla, Newcastle, Souths, Canberra, Manly. 7/8 is probably better than most. Nevertheless, I badly underestimated Manly and Souths, and badly overestimated North Queensland.
Jazz had them missing as well. The three of you would have all put forward very insightful and thought out reasoning as to why they would miss, which would have influenced a lot of posters here. Initially I would've had the Rooters in the 8 given their few good signings, however after reading a few essays about the attacking impotence of Mini/Maloney/Pearce set up and the defensive capabilities of the rest of the side I concurred that they'd miss the 8.
I think I had Souths 9th on my predicted ladder but I certainly didn't write them off; pretty sure I said that any of my top 9 or 10 could do serious damage throughout the season if things went their way. Certainly not that surprised to see them dominate anyway. The Roosters though.. yeah I 100% did write them off. Looked at the squads at the beginning of the year, and four of them stood out to me as being absolutely crap: Parramatta, Penrith, St George and Easts. I was obviously dead wrong with Easts.
