This is magnificent. I can't even begin to fully describe how awesome that win feels after 8 devastating, heart-breaking years as a Saints fan.

I reckon that's 18-24 month ban stuff from that Flower bloke. What a mutant/

#17 from St.Helens should have been doing more than tackling him too, should have been trying to knock the cunt out.

Honestly though, with the injuries to Wilkin, Lomax and Walsh along with the departure of so many club champions, this is comfortably the worst St Helens team we've had in the last 8 years.

It would be over here, but according to Browny he's been punished enough already haha.

Reckon they'll give him eight. Should be a whole season.

  6. Tartmaster AJ James

Yeah he's gotta get rubbed out for a while.

    16-20, IMO

I thought it was bad being a bulls fan for the last 10 years but getting to the final and getting beat with better teams than this one certainly hurts

As a Parramatta Eels fan, this made me chuckle a bit.
Souths fans would be pretty raucous reading it too, I reckon.

I think it's more about the fact that they made 4 or 5 grand finals and lost them all in that time.

I think fans ultimately enjoy their team's success in relative rather than absolute terms. I believe that most people temper their expectations based on what they believe their team can achieve.

I've found my experience as a St Helens supporter to be infinitely more heartbreaking than my experience as a English supporter, despite the fact that relative to their competition, St Helens are far more successful. In my opinion, losing 5 grand finals in a row, especially with a team of champions is just as devastating as being no-hopes. It might be easier to bear for the 6 months leading into October but the hollow feeling at the end is just as bad.

Five in row. It isn't a feeling that you can wash away.

Winning this year is a fantastic feeling as a supporter but it still doesn't get rid of the overwhelming feeling of underachievement from 2007-onwards.

Yeah I know the feeling of being the best team in the comp bar saints from 96 to 2005 and now we are in the championship, I hope for your sake that the World club challenge next year goes good for the British teams

And the fact you only won because you played against 12

That did help a lot lol

I do get what you mean.
BAck in the late 90's/early 00's when Parra kept losing Prelims and the GF in '01 (then bombing out in '05 and losing the '09 GF) it was pretty hard to take.

But after the past 5 years I would gladly go back to those days. At least I'm only miserable for a short time as opposed to the whole damn season.

  17. GYR DW Lewis

Losing a GF is 1000 times worse than a Prelim IMO. 5 in a row would be torturous.

    True.

They would absolutely have been better off with Hohaia and against 13. Winning a gf with no halves is pretty good.

Didn't watch the game, and didn't know he didn't play the rest of the match.
