I don't see why the big break would make next season unrealistic at all. We've had massive breaks before, usually between seasons. Players improving/declining between seasons has always been a thing. I can see why people think this season will be divided into two halves, but I think you'll be surprised at how consistent it ends up being. What you're all forgetting is that no-one actually knows how any of it works in the slightest anymore.
You just simmed it with generic names and will just insert the names of the named lineups as they come.

This might make next season start slightly earlier but it wouldn't affect the resumption of this season.
