The worst is Trent Shithouse. 12 Tests.

  3. Julian BJ Taylor

Nah he was a good player in his prime IMO.

Waterhouse definitely played a few more times than he should have but MF has always had this weird thing about hating him so much. A good player played a few extra games is definitely nowhere near as big an injustice as someone like Kaufusi being capped at all. That was a complete disgrace.

  5. Julian BJ Taylor

Yeah, Lipina should never have been capped by the Tigers or the Bulldogs.

A few? He played 12 Tests. I'm not saying he wasn't a good player but he played about 9 more Tests than he should've. To me, that's much worse than a random nuffy getting a game through injury. I mean admittedly he kept Price out of the Test side but Kaufusi only played 1 game. Shit like that happens all the time but at least it wasn't an on-going occurrence.

Perhaps it just irks me more because blokes like Harrison (QLD backrowers in general) are usually the ones getting rorted when it comes to the Test side and it's because of repeat selections like Waterhouse and Glennt Stewart that he didn't play for Australia at all.

  7. Julian BJ Taylor

No-one is disagreeing with that, he did drop off noticeably in his mid twenties,

Yeah but they kept picking him. That's more egregious than the typical end of year preference given to nuffy players who happen to be in a premiership winning side or given favour by some idiot coach. As bad as selections like David Williams, Antonio Kaufusi, Chris Lawrence etc. are, they're ephemeral. It's the repeats that annoy me much more and I think, speak to the incompetence of the ARL much more. Just how I see it.

I completely disagree really. A good player getting selected ahead of better players based on past glories or whatever is far more excusable a complete nufflie getting a game based on playing for a good side and/or being in the purple patch. The difference between 0 and 1 Tests is infinitely more than the difference between 3 and 12 IMO, which is why I'm more sad about Harrison never playing a game than Myles playing so few, even though Myles has been robbed more times than Harrison.

Fair enough. Agree to disagree I guess. I do think it's a bit ironic though that you have more contempt for Harrison playing 0 than Myles playing so few when it's repeat selections like Waterhouse's that kept Harro out.

He'll be a 300 gamer. No shitcunt gets to 300. Solid as a rock old J-Mo.

I didn't say he's a shit cunt but he's far from being the most under rated player ever.

He was rubbish in the halves and he's been good at best as a hooker for years. He has never been anything close to a stand out, he probably looked the best when playing on the wing early in his career.

He's hardly as under rated as blokes like Scott Sattler, Ash Harrison, Jason Croker, Kerrod Walters, Robbie Ross or Darren Britt.

And that's just a gob smackingly obvious short list of blokes who've retired in the past 20 years who were incredibly under rated for large portions of brilliant club careers.

Yeah. Kerrod Walters played for QLD and Australia and he's still probably the most underrated hooker to play the game that I've ever seen. Used to carve up through the middle.

Sattler... Now there was a underrated gun.

  15. Julian BJ Taylor

His main problem was not that he wasn't world class, but his brother was the greatest dummy half the world had seen at that point.

  16. Julian BJ Taylor

Reckon Paul Bowman was pretty under rated in his prime as well. Should have played for Australia.

  17. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Well not really at that point. Boxhead hadn't played rep footy yet. But I know what you mean. In the zeitgeist of what was then considered modern RL, yes Steve Walters certainly overshadowed his brother as probably the best hooker of all time.

Pretty sure I'm your age MF so I just can't rate anything pre mid nineties with any conviction whatsoever. I know what transpier but I didn't see it first hand.

  19. Ged GEC King

Yeah. He was part of some extraordinarily horrible Qld sides. His defence kept us in it out wide on a few occasions.

I've seen quite a few of his games post 1988 (Broncos) and obviously I've seen all his Origins and most of his Tests. But for his Ipswich days yeah, I do have to depend on second hand accounts mainly from my father.
