Great Britain GK: Eddie Morris D: Bobby Blunder D: Chris Golding LW: Simon Laing C: Marcuss Deane RW: Jake Luffman Queensland GK: Adam Vago D: Charlie Downes D: Luke Pilgrim LW: Ben Manera C: Brett Gemmell RW: Ged King After the smashed up of NSW, we move onto Great Britain up against Queensland. Hopefully this game will be a little closer, and the signs are promising. GB have arguably the strongest defensive lineup with Golding and Blunder, not to mention Eddie Morris. However Morris has been in poor form in recent times, will he be able to put it behind him for GB? Qld have a slightly weaker defence, though still very strong, along with Vago in goal who showed good signs in the pre-season and early part of the season before being dropped after one poor game. He'll be looking to prove himself tonight. Gemmell upfront will be there go to man for goals, and King will be looking for a good game on debut in a rep game! Lets get to it.
Dire that Marcuss has only ever really played RW until the acadamy match and provincial match that makes little to no sence
End of 1st Period: The Great Britain team gets off to a good start with superstar Simon Laing putting away a goal to give them the lead mid way through the period. Both teams have looked quite good and there doesn't seem to be too much between them so far, Qld could well get back in this one. GB 1, Qld 0 Goals: Laing (1) Assists: N/A
Shame we had to bring Ged in but hopefully he shows the sods that even our youngsters are better than them.
End of 2nd Period: No goal in the second 20, but the teams are playing hard tonight. Both of these teams look gelled and this game can still go either way. These teams look like they could even give the Ice Blacks a run for their money the way they're playing. The 3rd period will be important for both of their hopes of finals though. GB 1, Qld 0 Goals: Laing (1) Assists: N/A
End of 3rd Period: Great Britain do it, they get off to the best start possible with a 2 - 0 win over a very strong Qld team. Laing playing the superstar role as he did most of the season for the Sharks. Next round will see GB play NZ for 1st on the ladder while Qld will take on the poor performing NSW to decide who will be sitting last after two rounds. An interesting stat from the round is that between all the LWs, there were 6 goals (Astele 3, Laing 2, Flack 1). LWs really dominating the IHS provincial cup so far. GB 2, Qld 0 Goals: Laing (2) Assists: N/A

Excellent result boys, I'll certainly take that. I can only think of one change to the team, but not sure if it is worth it.
