Not really about you. I had a girl over here on the weekend and Teacups knew that but saw me online. He asked me wtf I was doing on CS and I informed him that she was watching Criminal Minds so I got bored. Direst show, dead set.
And a bit off topic, but less off topic than Criminal Minds, but I swear this is actually the most popular sim on the site at the moment, and we're only doing pre-season stuff!
Best member! And yeah, wtf. It's awesome considering last season sorta faltered due to the break I had to take over Christmas time.
Yeah it's gun. Prefer it to cs/ars now too. deadset love it no idea why. I guess it's a relatable and easy to understand the basics sport where you're always going to play and have a role. With cricket it's like one bad shot and you're out and done for the week which is a little frustrating.
I think basketball being a sport where your contribution isn't as easily defined as runs on a scoresheet helps considerably. Most of the discussion around here is debating who really are the best players because people consider different parts of the game more valuable than others.
Yeah; I always thought simulated sports would work the opposite way. The easier you can see and define how well you played, the more easily you can get involved. I guess though that while that makes CricSim more accessible to the "casual" simulated sportsman, BBS gives the people who are really invested in it more to talk about. Seasonal Rugby is more like BBallSim, but probably goes a little too far that way with each role being so, so different and there being so many different stats and different players on the field at once. Not many people have the time to analyse all that.
That's true but I don't think it's great for the sim. I'd say what really makes it thrive is discussion, otherwise the ideal sport for simming purposes would be bowling.
It's also, to me at least, a more complex sport. I mean I've liked union for ages and basketball I liked when I was a kid, was my first sport really but I've only been a casual fan up until 2-3 years ago. Everything points towards me being more into union and all that and I'd probably prefer to watch a union game but I find the union sim a little 'too much' I think union's a game where the statistics and contributions are difficult to measure in just stats and then the ones that are are really hard to weight and even understand their meaning. Basketball's got enough stats but they're just so simple and easy to place their relevance in the scheme of the game. If that makes sense. I think AFLsim's between the two in that the stats and output is 'simple to understand' in terms of, well, it's a kick and a catch but the stats don't reflect the game as much as the basketball ones do, like they're not all relevant to the goal scored or the possession and all that.
I was just going to come in and post something like that about how statistics don't necessarily measure someone's contribution to a game in rugby as much as they'd do in basketball.
