    He is only there in case of emergency really. Dafter is our other opening option and he has been as bad at rep level and has a far worse club record.

    Well I would use Ames over Dafter. Dafter not being in the squad shows he isn't even in contention. The only other bloke we have that has opened in FC cricket AFAIK is Hornby.

    Plenty of bowling options for the second team with Doog and Zakaron still around. Martyn and Dyer are starting to make some progress in the ALC too.
