Quite easily the most over-rated forward if not player going around at the moment. He's improved since he left years ago but fmd he is still average yet everyone who has a camera in front of them raves about him. Some 'expert' spud on Fox Sports news said he's been the best forward all year and it has disgraced the Australian jersey that he wasn't picked. Anyone else been noticing this wankfest?
I think Hoffman is quite a good player, although admittedly he has always been a touch overrated. But that is to be expected from any above-average player playing in a very successful team. The issue is that fans and commentators don't appreciate the gap between the NRL and representative football and consequently seem unable to grasp the idea that someone can be a good FG player without necessarily being a representative player. Test and Origin jumpers should be about picking the absolute best team available every game, not just a rewarding a player who is playing well or working hard. The latter is what MOTM or club awards are for.
Hoffman is one of the best line runners in the game. Even accounting for the advantage of playing with Cronk, he's still a superb hole hitter. But he's definitely overrated. And he's been a fucking muppet at rep level. That said I don't think it's a massive blunder type selection. He's better than Glenn Stewart.
MF on the mark here. I would prefer him to blokes like T Rex, G Stewart, Creagh definitely so his improvement is a good thing even if it pushes guys like that out of the picture IMO.
