Round 2 - Central Coast Bears vs Sydney Roosters

14th min

Pearce jumps from the scrum and runs straight into the mess of forwards. He had the numbers on the open side but he did a colesy impersonation of a play instead. O'Meley takes a hard honest run and gains some ground. Pearce is getting involved in everything now, he gets out of hooker and steps Hunt and draws the winger before passing to Perrett, he's set him up well and he runs forward to the 40m line before he is caught by James and brought down. Aubusson passes to Pearce who kicks from behind his own 40m line, it's got the distance but not the direction for a 40/20. It's picked up by Hughes who is still on because there hasn't been a break in play, he passes to Burridge who makes a half break and james trails the play well. Burridge offloads to James, He's away!! awwww he's dropped it, James suspect hands on show again today. Anasta picks up the ball and in his frustration James hits him with a swinging arm! Right across the chops. Penalty!! Horrible passage of play for James there.

Anasta steadies himself and kicks for the touchline and he finds the sideline 10m from his oppositions tryline.

14th Min. Aubusson taps the ball and hits Anasta with a floater, he plays a run around play with Pearce before he's pulled down 5m from the line.Aubusson jumps from dummyhalf, throws a HUGE cutout pass all the way to Perrett and where is Rogers??? The winger is caught hugely out of position and Perrett scores one of the simplest tries you will ever see! He plants the ball over the line 2m in from touch a tough kick for Fitzgibbon here.

He takes his time here, ensuring his socks are in the correct position before reefing some turf from the ground to judge the wind here, the crowd begins to heckle the kicker as he moves in towards the tee, Great kick, that never looked like missing! Fitzgibbon brings the Roosters even closer now.

15th minute.

The Roosters grind their way up to the 40m line. Strong defence by the Bears who have gone off the boil big time! 4th tackle and its played to Aubusson who distributes the ball to Pearce who's perched on the 30m line, he steadies himself and drill the ball long upfield it's angled towards the sideline, Great Kick!, it bounces on and into touch past the 20! another 40/20 here this time to Pearce!

16th min

The Roosters are throwing everything bar the kitchen sink at the Bears here but some desperate defence by the forwards keeps them at bay. 5th Tackle, it goes out to Anasta who puts it on the toe and he chases a dribbly old grubber! Will he get there first! across comes Jacobs who intervenes and cleans up the loose ball. Anasta tackles him and its a dropout for the Bears here.

 

17th minute.

Perry is barking orders to the team like a general, he then heads under the sticks and drop kicks the ball 45m where the Roosters gather the ball through Shackleton who charges forward, he breaks the tackle of Fung before an obviously fired up Pilgrim comes across and pumps the ball runner. The ball pops free and it's secured by Hunt.

 

17th min

Fungs takes the ball to the line and hits Ikram who offloads to James who's into a gap he sprints forward 10 more metres before he's tackled. Fung runs the ball with inspiration and draws the defence before combining with Hunt who in turn draws a man and passes to Burridge who is caught by the defence. Jacobs goes the short side hitting Downpipes who runs and then passes to Cambridge who takes a run and makes 5m. They're only 30m from the line here. Perry awol here but Fung is taking over he gets the ball on the 4th and attracts the defence before chipping over the line and he's hunting this down!!! It's a foot race between the two 6's here but Anasta just gets there in time but Fung does well and forces him into the in goal and it's a drop out for the Roosters now.

 

18th Minute.

Pearce restarts play and the ball is caught by Rogers on the wing here. He's 40m from the line and he decides to run it hard and straight, he hugs the sideline and reaches the defence, SKD goes low and Rogers walks through the tackle, he's on a barnstorming run here! He breaks another tackle and he's off!!!! Minichiello comes across in cover defence and Rogers prepares for the impact and gives him the big don't argue!!!! There's no defence left and Rogers scores a huge try!!!! He places the ball down in the corner, a harder kick for Jacobs here.

He lines the ball up here and goes back and he's just too good! Straight over the black dot, will he ever miss???

Bears 30 - Roosters 12

 

18th minute

Burridge catches the kickoff and breaks two tackles before he's brought down! Hunt tries to put on the fend but he's shut down easily. Jacobs finds Perry who's off down the sideline here he cleverly combines with Rogers who's brought down around the halfway line. Jacobs scoots and is tackled. Perry passes to Rogers who tries to chip and chase along the sideline its collected by Perrett and he returns it to past the 40m line.

 

19th min

Roosters are being contained easily by the defence this set. Its gets to the 5th and its passed back to Aubusson who shapes to kick but he drops the ball! Bears ball.

 

20th min

Fung takes another strong run here, Jacobs scoots out intelligently but is shut down, O'Neill makes a tough charge forward here and he offloads to James who's in the clear! He's caught at the 20m line, another try here? The ball comes out to Hunt who stands in the tackle and offloads to Cambridge who's tackled. Perry hits Jacobs who takes a solid hit up. It goes to Hunt who swerves towards a gap but he's held, he slips the offload and it goes to Pilgrim who's held 5m out. 5th tackle. Ikram takes apunt late in the game and tries to bustle his way over for a late try he falls 30cm short of the line and its a changeover.

Soliola passes the ball to no-one as the Siren blares and they run it over the dead ball line lol.

 

That's fulltime here folks, The Bears are too good in the end for the Roosters who were better in the 2nd half but were blown away in the 1st half.
