    OK, I'll admit biasness here, and I'm probably more PC in a lot of regards than most on this forum, but:

    Are there legitimate reasons to boo Adam Goodes? Yes. But those reasons were there before 2013. Yet (granted could be down to me not paying attention but still...) 1. I've only really noticed him being a genuine booing target when he became a lot more outspoken about Indigenous affairs etc. and 2. he cops it a lot worse IMO than other opposition players - does any other player get booed by everyone whenever he touches the ball? Especially given he's far from the worst human being to play AFL.

    To me, it seems like a bunch of racists started the booing, and people that didn't necessarily like Goodes for non-racial reasons (e.g. perception as a protected species) joined in to give him cover. I think a lot of the recent shit was down to the outcry from the media etc. of the booing - but I still don't think it's right given the circumstances.

    If it was race related every Abo cunt would get booed. He gets booed because he is made out to be - and perceives himself to be - this amazing player and bloke but the fact is he's put on a pedestal when he shouldn't. Heaps of players stand up for something and aren't hated, but he is because plays like a dog at times, was already overrated as fuck as a player and then won Australian of the Year for doing pretty much fuck all compared to others. Everyone is just sick of the bullshit he and his defendants sprout.

    These sort of things are popping up every week across society and it keeps me thinking about that satirical 'equality' vid Lukic posted a few months back.

    I'm not giving an opinion on this very matter, because I simply don't know enough about it. What is definitely becoming the case is that it's pretty hard to be right on anything if you're a heterosexual white male at the moment. I realise that's been the most privileged section of society for centuries. But that's getting flipped very, very, very quickly at the moment.

    Its frustrating.

    Its not because he's black, its because he is just a shit bloke and the AOTY was the one thing that pushed everyone that was sitting on the fence, over the edge imo. How come Cyril doesn't get booed every week, he is abo, how about Leon Davis, he never got booed. Stephen Hill, never been booed, Michael Long, never. List goes on.

    It's got nothing to do with him being black. Lets hope some white guy gets booed for elbowing a bloke, someone spots a black person booing him, then the white guy plays the race card.

    The couple of articles I've read suggest it's absolutely about him being Aboriginal. It's about him not lying down and being the smiling Aboriginal puppet that so many sporting events try and trot out. It's this standing up and telling home truths that plenty of people can't stand.

    Once again I don't know the ins and outs but that doesn't strike me as the craziest opinion on the matter.

    Footy bogans aren't that insightful, but while it sounds reasonable I don't see it. We've got plenty of blokes in our game, indigenous or not, that are flashy and don't suit the mould of the tough and reserved footballer. If you act like a fuckhead you get called out no matter your race. We've had stuff like Nicky Winmar pulling his shirt up pointing to his dark skin celebrated, and Aboriginal players are lauded for their skill and pace, and although I think at times they're stereotyped that way - something Goodes has spoken about in the past before he was getting routinely booed to no real backlash - as a whole indigenous players aren't oppressed or anything at all imo. If you can play you get a game, if you play well the fans love you.

    My 2 cents:
    His grubbiness has increased as he's gotten older and he's also a star player, which naturally brings a degree of booing.

    From there he was awarded Australian of the year, which I don't think many people have a problem with, but it does mean he's held to a higher standard on the football field, as he's not just meant to carry himself as a player, he's meant to carry himself as Australian of the year. So this results in a few people that thought 'bah, he's a grub but thats footy' to think 'Actually fuck that, this cunt is meant to be Australian of the year and does things like the following, boo!'

    The he comes out and says 'Football has become a rednecks wonderland' and articles say things like:
    'Adam Goodes has made it quite clear he hears those boos as a statement on his race and culture.'
    and
    'So when he tells you what it means to him and you choose to boo, you're confirming to him and every other indigenous footballer what you're really about.'

    An ever greater number of people that previously didn't care think 'get fucked, you can't just decide that I'm a racist, you've won two brownlows, been picked in representative teams, skippered an AFL side, made millions of dollars and race has never been an impediment and isn't for hundreds of other indigenous past and present that have played in the AFL, Boooo boooo boooo!'

    The best approach I've found to this Goodes situation is to replace the name 'Adam Goodes' with 'Anthony Mundine' and see if the claims hold any weight.

    He is threatening to retire because of all this, he was going to retire at the end of the season anyway, this will just be an excuse to make everyone look/feel bad. He's a grub and i'd love to feed the cunt a banana so he chokes. He's a fucking pig of a human.
