FMD. Can feel a fucked season coming on tbh. Will probably be a Warriorish year where we looks great one game, then play like busteds the next. Tonight we got 2 halves of it...
Dunno what they were doing with him. He was pretty orsm hitting holes last year. Seems like he was just wasted tonight.
Sam Thaiday was pretty poor IMO. Brent Kite on the other hand was very strong. Cherry-Evans made 32 tackles.
Hook started well for us, however he is becoming Henjakish by picking retarded sides. The balance just isnt there. You cant give Gillett a starting spot and give him long minutes. He is still playing with nerves although it is his 3rd season. Cunt has a shit-ton of ability but doesn't have a brain in his head. That rush in that lead to Matai's try and a faggoty offload that resulted in a turnover. At this stage Gillett is an impact-bench player or left-right-out. You'd think that with more ability in the halves, we could accommodate a non-ballplaying fullback in Hoffman. Norman was no better attacking wise than Hoffman was last year in the 1st half. However I honestly think Hoffman could have assisted Prince in preventing Matai's try, at least he would have laid a hand on him.
You're saying if Hoffman had been at fullback, yeah? Yeah Norman had a few poor defensive moments tonight. The effort on Cherry-Evans was pretty lacking. And not taking Matai was a poor decision.
I wonder if we could have prevented the DCE try if Reed wasn't tackling some random dude who was just watching DCE.
Yeah, that was the worst piece of defence of the night by far. Hodges/Gillett being awful positions and getting beaten on both shoulders by any old shunt is going to happen all year, but that Cherry-Evans try... wow. Just wow. And Reed is a primarily defensive centre.
Surely we have someone better than Ben Hunt to play utility. He offers nothing. I'd rather see Bond on the bench. Well, actually I'd rather see him play five-eighth outside Prince.........
Gallen-like effort from the Toyota Cup Gallen of the Year 2010 in this game. Good to see him realising his potential as the next Gallen after having stupid cunts tell him for two years that he was a hooker or the next Steve Menzies. Looks like he's bulked up a bit in the offseason though; hopefully he doesn't take after Gallen in too many ways...
I think the thing for him is that he's finally going to start for a bunch of games and play big minutes.
Yeah, I feel like it's a bad move for everyone involved to for him to be on the bench. He won't make it as a hooker, get him playing in the halves in QLD Cup if he isn't replacing Wallace or Norman in the halves. We've got Granville and Baptiste. Baptiste seems to be on the outer. I'd have either one of them. Wallace needs to go, it's probably not the best motivation for the kids seeing such a shitty player constantly get rewarded for doing absolutely nothing. Hook needs to dump him soon. He needs to learn to make tough decisions if he wants to stay as coach next year.
I've got to say, I was pretty confused as to who was actually playing lock for Manly tonight out of Buhrer and Watmough. It's almost as if the coach selected Buhrer there but Watmough just refused to run out on the fringes because he's above that or something.
Only watching the first bit of the second half now, was he predominately playing on the right hand fringe all nigh?
Well, I do think you need two actual hookers. McCollough isn't good enough to play 80 regularly. Your bench as a whole was turd in this match though. Even Hannant who was seemingly selected on the bench just to make sure you didn't get streamrolled when your bench players came on, he was poor. Thaiday was also poor starting, mind you.
