Boring. What a rubbish display of bowling. What happened to de Wet & Pathan's bowling form? At least Albie's turned things around somewhat.
Any reason why Eds' part timers (Colly/Tendy) got bowled in the first dig whilst mine (Alam/Benkenstein) didn't? Eds didn't put any bowling orders down for Collingwood and Tendulkar, yet they took 3 of the wickets. Alam/Benkie could easily have taken one and reduced Eds' first innings score. EDIT: Same thing in the 2nd innings! Eds didn't even put orders for Collingwood & Tendulkar. At least I had Alam down to bowl in the 2nd innings. What gives?!?
Well Collingwood and Tendulkar were, in effect, his sixth bowler combination. Your sixth bowler bowled 29 overs in the first innings; his bowled just 16. In the second innings, things were getting desperate/irrelevant with just a few overs left on the 15th day, and given Collingwood and Tendulkar had hilariously broken key partnerships in the first dig, I gave them another bowl for potential luls. If you'd like me to resort to as many bowlers as possible when its clear the opposition are racking up a huge score though then I can do that.
I clearly remember someone telling me (someone = Cribbage) that (and I'll paraphrase) that sometimes random bowlers have a good day and that ITC really resembles real cricket in this way at times in that sometimes a fill in bowler can take a handful of wickets in one innings. Yes, I had six bowlers - but they were bowlers and I'd selected them as such. Eds hadn't selected Colly or Tendy to bowl, and whilst I don't have any issue with you selecting them, I don't understand why in very similar circumstances, a couple of overs of Alam might have done a similar job... Or are Colly & Tendy more analogous to Ryder than to Alam/Benkenstein?
An over-riding theme of Round 1 appeared to be the trials trolling everyone. Trial form seemed to count for nothing - most of the players who forced their way into team on trial form flopped (Luke Wright - 1 run and 0 wickets - being the best example) and spectacular trial failures like Albie Morkel managed to turn it around.
