NSW Starting 2nd Rower to be Benny Read has today played up rumours of a massive rivalry between himself and likely Origin Lock Brett Gemmell. Apparently the rift began after Game 2 last series in which Read dominated Gemmell both physically and verbally with one confrontation raising the ire of the referees after Gemmell attempted to squirrel grip his much more skilled opponent. Read had the last laugh however dominating Gemmell in defence upon his return and getting his own back upon their clash in the National Competition and avoiding citation. Gemmell has a history of poor off-field behaviour including a $20,000 fine for setting a child mascot on fire and swimming to shore in his briefs on an end of season trip to the coastal town of Port Macquarie. Read dominates Gemmell in the Season 2 Origin Series. Read sneakily tampers with the rather small goods this season.
