There are different types of fullbacks, there are the Billy Slater types who are dangerous on kick returns. Then there is the ball playing fullbacks like Hunt was. And then there are those in between, Hayne, Patten etc.
Id rather have a set defensive line and a quick breather than to be chasing 40m down field to try and tackle Slater in broken play.
Yes, and all of them are merely attacking rovers. Which is why fullback is the easiet position to play IMO. They make 4 tackles a game, don't have to be reliable and get praised to no end and have people wondering why so many are so good and why we have so much depth, based on attacking brilliance. It's a joke. This is also why so many non-fullbacks can make the transition to the back with ease. Hodges, Hayne, Carney, Boyd etc.
Really don't see how people think the Tigers are going to win the Grand Final tbh, I reckon they'll be in the 8 this season but Grand Final? Tuiquri has proven nothing and had nothing more than a solid hit out tonight Their prop rotation still has question marks over it for mine Lui is not a halfback, certainly not one who compliments Marshall anyway
Hayne and Boyd were always fullbacks coming through the grades; they just played wing originally because that's where the spot was open.
I agree. They were dreadful for most of the night. Total lack of forward penetration. Horrible defence.
