But come the end of the CPL season, do they get first-dibs on the players we've not been selecting? I'm confused about that tbh. But okay, better to have those fringe players getting some form in 2nd class, I agree.
Nah, the players you contribute to this team are still contracted to BLERTA. Think of BLERTA as Middlesex and The Avengers as Surrey. Utu is like a combined 'London 2nd XI' made up of a combination of 2nd XI players contracted to the two Counties and then some local league cricketers (undrafted players) who are contracted to the 2nd XI itself. Or something like that.
Yeah. That's what I mean. If I don't decide to retain Rauf, but he's played 10 games for the 2nd class team, they should get the option to retain Rauf rather than some chump they've picked the equivalent of 6 rounds later.
If they get full CPL teams, then yeah. If they're going to run a reserve grade team again, then no, as the players might get picked up in CPL again.
