What is everyone thinking after 2 rounds?

    1. Billy Slater
    2. Israel Folau
    3. Brent Tate
    4. Greg Inglis
    5. Willie Tonga
    6. Darren Lockyer
    7. Jonathon Thurston
    8. Steve Price
    9. Cam Smith
    10. Petero Civoneceva
    11. Ashley Harrison
    12. Nate Myles
    13. Corey Parker

    14. Nathan Friend
    15. Ben Hannant
    16. Sam Thiaday
    17. Dave Taylor

    Inglis/Tonga to swap in attack/defence.

I will cop shit for naming Parker as many don't think he will suit origin, but if he is told to just tackle his ass off I think he could bring what Stagg/Luck would but with an actual attacking game. He shouldn't be written off before being given a proper chance. Taylor is only on the bench because he could be used for impact and as cover to the backline seeing we are having a stupid amount of injuries there lately.

Myles could also go to lock with Thiaday starting and someone like Scott coming onto the bench.

    Lol. Parker.

    1. Billy Slater
    2. Israel Folau
    3. Brent Tate
    4. Willie Tonga

    6. Darren Lockyer
    7. Jonathon Thurston
    8. Steve Price
    9. Cam Smith
    10. Petero Civoneceva
    11. Ashley Harrison
    12. Sam Thaiday
    13. Nate Myles

    14. Nathan Friend
    15. Ben Hannant
    16. David Stagg
    17. Dave Taylor

Pretty similar to Boob's. I'd consider switching Stagg and Myles but Myles should be starting imo. It also gives the bench a bit more of a balance imo. Stagg and Friend can between them cover every position in the backline and hooker.
Friend -> hooker, Smith -> halves
Stagg -> centre. Tate/Tonga to wing.

I'd really like to have Darius in there instead of Billy. Can't we just play Hunt?

  4. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Stagg is a waste coming from the bench, IMO.

And please tell me why Parker is lol worthy?

  5. Ged GEC King

He's just a shit ****. I don't see the issue with Stagg off the bench. He'd come on and tackle and act as a utility. It's either him or Luck afaic. I'd probably be tempted to chuck Nate back into the second row purely because we have two blokes waiting in the wings to fill the Johnson role whle no one to fill his old role afaic.

  6. Incey BC Jacobs

I wouldnt want Tonga on the wing if I was a QLD fan..

  7. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

How the **** is he a shit ****?

Stagg/Luck need to start or they need to not be there. We want guys like them starting and making all the tackles when everyone is fresh so the guys who are able to make more than 3m/hitup are fresh and able to do exactly that. Parker offers a great defensive workload and the ability to make metres and get some offloads away.

I also dont really see the need to have Friend on the bench, I mean im not saying he is shit or anything..but Smith is an 80min player and if he needs a breather im sure Stagg could fill in there for 10mins. Friend just seems like a wasted bench spot.

  9. Sizzler WD Robinson

Myles is a different player this year to previous years though, he used to be a 2nd row/prop but he has lost so much weight i dont know how well he would go as a prop anymore. i cbf naming a team tbh its too early and ill change my mind long before game one.

  10. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

He would defend in the centres and go to the wing in attack. I would be a good winger outside of Inglis in origin. Especially if he is marking Jennings/Lawrence.

  11. Sizzler WD Robinson

Tonga has been gun for the Cows, i wouldn't mind seeing him in the centers, if the rumors of Folau in the centers come true ill slit my wrists.

  12. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Friend would play in the backrow and just be there to make 100 tackles.

  13. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Folau will not be in the centres.

Meninga might be a dumb coon, but he isn't as dumb as Henjack.

Parker is better than Stagg IMO.

  15. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

    Much better.

He definitely is at NRL level. I don't know how his game would translate to Origin level though; I have a feeling he'd fail. Deserves a chance but I don't think it'd be outrageous if he was left out.. much like how Tronc was repeatedly left out.

The one thing I'd be worried about with him is that he can be a bit soft, and Origin is made for the tougher forwards.

  18. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Tronc was just shit. He is a big slug who was a nothing player. What about his game makes you think he will fail? He is consistently Brisbanes best forward and I think if given a full series for QLD he would cement himself a spot for years to come. Even if he was named on the bench he could come out and make great metres and second phase play without his usual defensive workload.

I don't see the soft side in him anymore. He has mongrel in him.

I would much rather have Friend filling in at lock in defence and attacking from acting half, than Stagg. They're both solid defenders but Friend is a much better hooker IMO. Stagg's service is way too slow and we don't have a good history of playing backrowers at rake.

Bennett playing Crocker there is one of the biggest mistakes in SOO history. Thank god Smithy came along.
