No I think you're mistaking being an established or proven First Grade Prop with a A prop capable of playing First Grade or being up to that standard.

I was clearly talking about Hodges & Barba when I said "options" so changing it to players doesn't change shit.

Dead set another argument about the wording of an argument. FMD.

FTR, I'm not saying Brisbane are one of these teams. Far from it. With our options, we're going to need as many of them as we can get. But I don't understand the pigeon-holing that you're attempting to impose, what seems like, across the board with set numbers of attacking options, and FG standard props and so forth.

  3. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

So you think Dylan Napa, for example, is a FG standard prop?

Well, I think you're mistaken twice. Firstly in implying that Hodges and Barba are Brisbane's only two good attacking options.

And secondly, you're a fucken cry baby. If you don't want to be picked up on the wording of your arguments, then be more careful about the way you word them. I've learnt this is just your go-to tactic. You can't maintain consistency in your argument so you complain about pedantry (all the while doing it yourself). It's pretty tiresome.

And being that tiresome, I'm off to bed.

Yes, I thought Napa was a First Grade standard prop before he debuted last year on the basis of his performances in the 20's and NSW Cup. To the point where I advocated him for a bench spot in Round 1 (although largely because I underrated Moa & LOD).

I don't think someone has to be proven or established in First Grade to be considered a First Grade Standard player. In the same way for example I don't believe Shaun Fensom needs to play in SOO to be considered a SOO standard player.

Probably should've taken more out of today's game than you're willing to then if you still believe that. Glenn's ability to hit a hole has been under-utilised due to inept ball playing as on display yet again today, Gillett is just a toss of the coin whose ability is cancelled out by his liability & I really can't think of much more outside of that for which Brisbane have going for them in attack.

Actually scratch that last bit, Parker's offloads are always a danger but a full time move to prop would even limit that small positive. He should be given more free-reign not consigned to a position that limits it, another negative out of today's game.

Sure. But once he does play, and demonstrates that your speculations were either excessive or premature, you change your opinion, yeah? His attacking numbers resemble those of Dallas Johnson. If he wasn't a genuine hitter, there'd be good cause to criticise Robinson for carrying a passenger (which he probably is anyway).

Either Hunt or McCullough will be a focal point.

  7. Julian BJ Taylor

Shillington damaged rib cartilage and they reckon he'll miss round one.

  8. Magic AJ Parker

I would change my opinion if I actually believed any of the crap you just spat out to be true & he was a passenger, yes. Not sure what that has to do with anything though. Players will always exceed or be below predicted expectations though, it's what makes predicting how a side will go so hard & interesting. I'd just admit to being wrong about the prop rotation like I was so wrong about the Dragons prop rotation under Bennett.

A focal point for lols maybe.

God you're nauseating. Look, either admit Napa is not a FG standard prop, or admit that if he is, then your criticism of Brisbane not having 6 of them, is rendered void. If Napa counts then so do any number of thus far unproven Brisbane props.

Fucken brick wall, I tell you.

  10. Magic AJ Parker

    How bout, no?

Napa will be playing origin sometime in the next two years, he's far superior to any of Brisbane's back up options.

lol @ you trying to tell me what to say.

 I don't give a flying fuck what you predict for the kid in 18-24 months. He'd wanna improve dramatically before then to even be considered. 6m a run isn't exactly what we're looking for in a bench relief.

lol @ you when it comes to props. I thought the Lowrie thing was bad. This is just dishonest now.

  12. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Napa may well prove to be a better player than Dodds. But there's no way you can include the former and not the latter in a list of FG standard props. You simply can't.

  13. Alec AD Funkotron

Sorry MF, but Napa is clearly better than Dodds already (and I actually like Dodds now). He isn't far off being better than Kennedy too, just experience IMO.

  14. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

I didn't say otherwise. But based on what they've shown respectively, you can't say Napa is FG standard and Dodds isn't. Neither of them have proven they can consistently perform at FG standard.

Yeah, that's well off the mark IMO.

Then we simply disagree about how highly we rate the respective players.

Stop trying to make it something it's not.

I think Dodds is FG standard, just like BHunt. Just towards the lower end of the list atm though.

  17. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

No the real disagreement is about what we think constitutes being FG standard. If you think making 6m a run and 20 odd tackles as an impact/replacement prop is FG standard, that's your business.

  18. Magic AJ Parker

6m per run, lol and you claim I'm being the dishonest one.

I'll just agree to disagree because quite frankly I really don't want to have a discussion about a player with someone who admitted to not actually watching games last year and was only going off statistics. Now in 2014 he makes them up, gonna be a fun season!

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

Did you ever consider that he just rates Napa higher than you do, and therefore does count more than someone like Dodds in his mind?

  20. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yes, I considered it. Not for very long. I didn't think anyone would seriously suggest that the line between being a FG standard prop, and not being one is to be drawn between Dodds and Napa.

    That's absurd, in my opinion.
