Pokemon Sim v3-The Design and Signup thread

Well since Hoopler's version has pretty much stalled (I've PMed him to make sure, since if he wants to continue I probably won't start this, but I'm going to try and be the first person to actually run this thing to the end of a region. (At least.)

Basically, it'll be set on the Emerald storyline (I will let people region restrict themselves to pokemon from previous games though if they are so inclined) in pretty much the same way as Hooplers was run, with a few changes. The main difference is the region will be Cricsim pretty much, so I'm looking for all of you to imput designs for Gym Leaders, Elite 4, Champions, or Even Rockets if you're so inclined (Not sure whether Howe or Heef should lead them though) named after you guys. Starters may be differently balanced to i.e. Dragons get Swablu. IDC if it's not a dragon, I'm not handing out Dratini's that level at the same speed as everyone else's starters. If it works, I'll consider extending it beyond the initial first region and see where things go, or maybe we'll restart in another region.

Total-29, would like some more Type variety. Lots of Dragon/Fire so far. But numbers are decent.

 

So as I see it, there's 2 ways of doing starters- we can fuck balance and just give you whatever you want (Which seems to be what people want judging by picks) or we can balance it and use weaker pokemon. Also, I'm tempted to add a second specialty type, go ahead and choose one, it'll have less of an effect than the primary one though.

 

Yeah, they are. It's just that some types gain a considerable advantage on how they scale in this in theory, since a Dratini is likely to level up at a similar speed to a Weedle for instance. Therefore to balance that the bug trainers can opt more towards a Scyther or Heracross to even things out slightly.

 

Honestly, I don't see why you can't. I'll let you start with it if you like. You'll only be able to catch Pokemon from Gen III and before, but don't see why you can't start with whatever.

 

That's pretty much the idea, yeah. Though I'm tempted to balance this in other ways.
