Morgan should be playing first receiver and Thurston 5/8th as they were named.

  2. Lukic L Popovic

Thurston's ego is too big to play 2nd receiver.

  3. SM MD Dorn

    Payne should be playing really....

  4. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yeah that's why he played superbly outside Prince in Game 2, 2008.

  5. SM MD Dorn

    That was all Prince tbh

Playing what? Wtf are you talking about?

Payne was on for the first 50minutes (why the **** it took Henry that long to get Watts on is beyond me) and the Cowboys are down 20-0. Watts comes on for 16 minutes (50th-66th) and the Cowboys are up 12-0 in the second half. Watts goes off after a piddly little spell and the Warriors score again.

During Payne's time out there, tackling without any sort of conviction or effectiveness and not getting the side going forward, the Cowboys were outscored 24-0. With Watts out there darting and playing up tempo the Cowboys outscored the Warriors 12-0.

Payne is not even close to Origin standard and is barely any better than Watts.

Are you taking the piss? Prince played terribly.

Obviously talking about club level and his half is Michael/Matt Morgan, a 2 game player...

It's just baseless assumption. Where is you evidence for it? Thurston's best football of his career has been at second receiver.

FFS, I know Thurston is a 5/8th. He's the best in the world at that, and is obviously not an organiser/halfs asshole. It's just his ego is too big to play anywhere but first receiver/organiser/halfback at club level, especially when his half is Mat freakin Morgan.

  11. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

    lol, what?

You have no evidence to back this up.

  12. Lukic L Popovic

So you're saying Thurston is an organiser and a halfback?

  13. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

When he is asked to be, yes.

  14. Lukic L Popovic

Well I don't think he is so there is the problem. Outside a genuine organiser such as Smith, Prince and the like, he's the best in the world... In terms of ballplaying and creativity, he can take the load of a team on his shoulders, but he's not a top line organiser or halfback by any means, imo.

Thurston plays behind a forward pack that more often then not doesnt lay the platform for him and his outside backs. Only a couple in the forward pack actually do something.
Whether he plays at half or five eighth is irrelevant. Doesnt make a difference when his forwards are doing **** all.

  16. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Okay then. Don't know what I was watching in 07 and parts of 09.

He wasn't outside either of those two in 05 or 06 and was producing Johns-like club form.

  17. Lukic L Popovic

And the reason because of that is his poor organising skills and his failure to decide whether the plays are on or if it is time to continue rolling the ball up the field.

Bolton, Mason and Scott are decent enough to lead a pack for the majority. Throw in guys like Ah Mau, Webb (if he's in a touch of form) and Tamou and that's more than enough.

  18. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Agreed. Kaufusi tonight was again, pitiful.

Scott is the only forward who regularly makes 100m+, with good discipline.

I dont think so, most of them perform like lazy ****s on the field. Kaufusi, Webb are the main culprits. Thurston is a good halfback but he is a better five eighth but as I said that doesnt mean shit, if Lockyer or Cronk tried to play behind that sort of go forward even they would get nowhere.
Cant get over them picking Kaufusi over Tamou.
Scott and Bolten are the two most consistent apart from maybe Mason who was quiet tonight.
I aint sure Bolten is ready for Origin just yet, maybe give him another season.

    You've got to be kidding.

Do you know how many times Nth QLD have won the metre-age battle this year? 3 times. Those three times were all wins, and their only wins this year.

Ah Mau averages 45m a game and Webb 70m.

Strange back when he had a pack that went forward most weeks in 07, the Cows and Thurston's organisation wasn't an issue. First year captain finished in the club's highest ever position and went one game short of a GF.
