Michael Jones - finest flank forward I've ever seen. What an athlete he was. Sean Fitzpatrick - ditto for hookers. Beating heart of (arguably) the finest AB team. Top, top chap too. Lynagh and him on our Sky's cover of Super Rugby is a treat to watch. Both analyse and speak on the game so well.
Presuming it's okay for me to enter. If I struggle real bad I'll have to go for Kiwis in the Premiership I reckon. I'll go Christian Cullen and Zinzan Brooke.
Per my disclaimer before I entered I didn't know Jones had played in the time period. More associate him with his performances in 1987 To each his own but I think although Ritchie puts in some average (I don't mean that in a bad way) performances from time to time, he is the best 7 I have seen and not Jones. Unless Jones got even better after I stopped watching in 90 What I remember of Jones was that he was QUICK. He would often make tackles not only in front of Grant Fox (who couldn't tackle) but also in front of the 2nd 5 sometimes and remember he had to break from the side of scrum and sprint across to make the tackle. When he first burst on to the scene we were just told he was going to be phenomenal. He was phenomenal but Ritchie as a workhouse gets through more tackles, breakdowns, and turnovers in 80 minutes. Jones was more likely to break tackles and score tries.
I have mixed emotions about Zinzan Brooke. He was to borrow Heef's term from seasonal rugby an offensive Guru but lacked flat out mongrelness. IMHO.
You'll probably struggle no worse than I will, I know nothing pre-2005ish and even periods since then are shaky.
Yeah I think Julian just wanted to share that comment with us as opposed to participating in the draft.
