You can use a browser extension to see the content from any region you want, which is why I'm going to subscribe when it becomes available here. More people who sub in Australia, the more likely we'll see Foxtel die a horrible, well deserved death.
You can also use Smart DNS or VPN to do this on other devices. Will be cancelling my US account and starting an Australian one purely so I know exactly how much I'm paying per month rather than paying a different amount due to fluctuating exchange rate. Also Optus/iiNet group have offered unmetered to Netflix AU. Hopefully HBO Now is released in Australia to help kill off Foxtel.
Can't remember where but remember reading $15 to $20 US I pay about $12 depending on interest rates. So it can't compete.
i'm not fussed about paying a few more shekels for the hassle free way of doing it. the question i have is what the library of content will be here. for example better call saul and breaking bad are all owned by stan, and i'm sure there's going to be other things netflix doesn't have, which other streaming services have got exclusive rights too. while stan/netflix/whoever on their own aren't expensive, when you need to buy them all it can be.
Thus it's not hassle free if you want to access all the content Like I say US ftw - cheaper and all the content.
HD plan is gonna be $12.99 in NZ (couple $ cheaper than I expected) but they don't have to pay GST so that doesn't get passed down to the consumer.
You do realise that upon launching in your country, netflix probably aren't going to make these workarounds so incredibly easy to use, right?
signed up for the free month trial, will sus out what content is there and whether it's worth continuing to pay for
