    Overkill surely. :p

Reus right, Januzaj left with Mata off Rooney and RVP on the injury table. Winning formula for sure.

But you're right it shouldn't be a priority atm...

I would love us to sign Arturo Vidal as our next big signing. A proper ball winner is something we could really do with. Atm we have Carrick who doesn't tackle, just reads the game well, Jones who will hopefully move into CB soon and Fletcher who we can't be sure will stay fit/get back to his best.
Vidic is probably done at this level now - relying on him this season when he can't play every game has been bad for us as we've had such inconsistent back 4s. Need someone in his early to mid 20s who will play everygame alongside Evans/Jones and build a consistent partnership ala Vidic/Rio of the late 2000s.
Lastly Evra will leave end of this season or the year after so a LB is a top priority. Like I said before I reckon Shaw is Chelsea bound but I'd love it if we secured Coentrao on a permanent deal.

Then we can think about the icing on the cake with a marquee CM or attacking player such as Reus/Cavani.

Also Moyes says Rooney and RVP could both play against Cardiff tomorrow after training this morning.

Reckon Mata will start on the bench, normally seems to be the way when a player has just arrived

He might keep one of Rooney or RVP on the bench as well considering they're both coming back after injuries.

Hard to say what sort of formation Moyes would adapt when he does decide to start with Mata on the pitch and Rooney and RVP back. Could be anything from a traditional 4-4-2 to a 4-2-3-1. I suspect it might even evolve into a 4-3-3 with Rooney playing in one of the wide areas once he's signed his new contract.

If Reus were to go to United one would have to assume there's something seriously wrong inside Dortmund which we're not hearing about.

Dortmund are clearly not going to win the league in the next half decade or so and they're clearly not as big a club as United. I don't think it'd be an odd move.

The reason he'd not go to United is because every club in the world would take him. And there's lots of more attractive prospects than United about, even in England.

Well, he rejected Bayern a couple of years ago, so I'd be surprised if he'd give up on Dortmund that quick.

And since that time, his team's best two players have signed contracts with Bayern and they've been replaced by worse players. He'll be 25 soon and I'm sure he'll want to push on to one of the world's biggest clubs which Dortmund won't be unless they start seriously investing.

I don't think him to United is that far a stretch tbh. He's been linked with us for 6 months constantly, and I doubt those reports are made of nothing. It's not inconceivable to see that with 3 or 4 improvements to the side we'll be competing with the best again.

They lost their two best players in the 12 months before he joined them tbf. No decline is terminal. It's a bit like Cesc with Barcelona, it matters if you used to stand in the yellow wall every fortnight as a kid. Throw it all away at the first sign of trouble to work with David Moyes? Nah.

Besides, he hasn't got a valid release clause until the summer of 2015. And I don't think Dortmund will be particularly keen to sell.

The difference is they replaced them with better players then.

It's not the first sign of trouble, it's just a steady stagnation. It's the realisation that you're not going to achieve your goals if you stay where you're at. Gotze agrees with me.

Would Cesc have gone back to Barca if they weren't so successful? No IMO.

Not sure they were considered better players then. Maybe Reus was considered better than Kagawa, but it's kind of being a hindsight expert to say Gundogan was better than Sahin. Both he and Kagawa were awarded Bundesliga player of the year when they left. Who knows, maybe in January 2017 we'll be considering a new Dortmund striker better than Lewandowski.

This is the first season this decade where they're not strongly competing for one of the most prestigious tournaments in Europe. And they could still have a late season push for the CL this season. Being way too quick to judge IMO.

Dortmund's quality for the past four or five seasons is remarkable, but surely not sustainable long-term. They're paying a fraction of the wages of Europe's biggest clubs and losing their best players on an annual basis. So far Klopp has managed to maintain high standards by working wonders in the transfer market and using some revolutionary tactics, but those tactics are so high-energy that they might be unsustainable anyway, and even if they are, other teams are already copying them.

Reus might decide to stick with Dortmund but United would be a big upwards step in terms of wages, and their long-term prospects are probably better too. I think it's more likely that he'd go somewhere else.

Might be the long term replacement for Ronaldo at Madrid.

Let's just put this rumour to bed right now.

Toni Kroos is one of the world's best players at (currently) the world's best club. He is an incredibly vital cog in said team. He is not going to be available for £25m.

Toni Kroos will also not be leaving his boyhood club, managed by Pep Guardiola, to go and play under David Moyes.

  16. Furball G Furball

That'll be Götze the childhood Bayern Munich fan. Of course he was going to leave Dortmund for Bayern given half the chance.

Reus has already turned Bayern down once and is at his boyhood club. Unlike Sahin, Kagawa, Götze and Lewandowski, Reus has also yet to win anything at Dortmund. I don't think he'll be as desperate to leave Dortmund as you seem to think.

  17. Eds E Ames

If he wants to win anything serious at Dortmund, ie. league or CL, he'll be waiting a loooong time.

  18. Furball G Furball

Dortmund are still one of the top sides in Europe and the Champions League is a knockout tournament. You're being far too quick to write them off.

Yeah, this. League is always going to be a stretch in the coming years, but they can still thump anyone on their day at the Westfalenstadion.
