No , incase of an injury , he is first on the list to replace a batsman. Honestly he isnt that bad of a batsman , you cant give him a simming average of 20 when he actually averages 40 in FC cricket it make no sense. Yeah I know you dont only use the FC averages , you use other things but he has been consistently getting starts , im sure he will be gun. He is more of a future pick tbh
Well Ontong, Samuels and all of Marcuss/Farny's reserve batsmen/keepers are all definitely better than him. If you had 5 or 6 injuries you could use him as a batsman though...
Ok , then he sit on the bench for awhile What about B Taylor how are you going about rating him? The reason for me asking this is because he plays for a minor nation and the FC cricket he plays wont be as tough as playing in other countries overseas. BTW have you entered all the simming averages?
All the simming averages for every player to have played a First Class match in the last 10 years have been done, whether they were selected or not.
How do you even do that, I mean dont literally explain all the little bits but did you have to create some sort off programme that went out and got the information for you or something It sounds like a fucking hell of a programme/job to do
I did a lot of manual work, creating notepad files of season run/wicket charts, copying them off cricinfo and cricketarchive etc. Test cricket stats are different again in that they're weighted by opposition and venue as well. Then I created a program in Visual Basic to read those files, weight the standard of each competition, standardise the balance between bat and bowl in each season, combine all the stats and spit it back out in the form of simming averages. I'm actually itching to post the results on CW or something but it'd spoil CPL so I can't. The most annoying part was getting all the A-tour games in and weighting them properly. That took fucking ages because I had to 'teach' the program to read individual scorecards.
Thats some farking intestive shit right there So when it comes to new seasons how easy is it to update with new seasons stats?
New domestic seasons are extremely easy to add in now. New Tests are still pretty hard/annoying though.
