Been to both. I preferred Singapore as it's much cleaner. Both have more shopping than anywhere in NZ. Hong Kong was bizarre in that I'm sure I saw more Cartier shops than McDonalds. Something inherrently wrong about that. Both good for a few days stop over. Depends what else you want on top of shopping though.
Stop over aye, I get sent heaps of stuff about Singapore really making an effort as a tourist destination and how they've polished up a few of their beaches. I wonder if there's any good spots around there.
Yeah, some really nice beaches actually. Over on Sentosa Island - accessible by monorail. Can get ridiculously humid and busy though.
Yea I've been to both. Singapore is ridiculously humid but is really clean and nice place. I'd say the shopping's better in Hong Kong though
I went to singapore in 97' I don't remember much I was really young, It was a drop off point where you had to wait 3 hours before changing planes. I was going to Thailand
I didn't bet on them, just said I had those odds, thought they'd be down near $1.75 and NSW would be nearer $2-2.10
Actually come to think of it I stopped over in Singapore for a couple of hours when I was flying to the UK 9-10 years back. Humid as all fuck.
Hong Kong has Disneyland, Macau, night markets and proper shopping while we've got stuff like Sentosa (basically an Island which has beaches, underwater world, universal studios, dolphins :eee: and a heap of other touristy things), nightlife is great but the booze is expensive, theres loads of shopping in town and everywhere is easy to get to by MRT. Theres also the Integrated resort with casinos and the Marina Bay Sands resort which is pretty cool, but iirc it's closed to non-hotel guests atm. Haven't been to HK so I can't really make a recommendation here.
Oh and it's been raining 6 days a week lately, not sure how it'll be in december. It gets really humid and sticky if you're outside.
Would you be prepared to drive me everywhere captain? Or at least run me around in one of those little trolley things?
