I wouldn't have a problem with that either. All the referees are human, they all likely followed clubs growing up even if they didn't play first grade, but they're all professionals.
I don't know about that. By precedent we know if a bloke goes to ground the ball and someone chops his arm down, it's a penalty try. O'Neill was certain to get to the ball first, therefore the only question is whether he would have grounded it. Which is still the same in the precedent. A key point to make is that the ball was rolling as well, rather than bouncing. He didn't have to grab it and ground it, he just had to put a mit on it.
I try not be biased when I watch footy, but I can't help it. Even if you paid me. Cricket has the right idea.
