    I noticed in the newspaper today that the New Zealand national AFL team have shamelessly ripped off the Hawthorn logo. I presume that the AFL owns the IP and Hawthorn don't?

    Notice that they're having a "Have a go Day" for all ages on the Basin Reserve on the weekend. Pretty keen to carve up the Basin Reserve with my shockingly atrocious AFL skillz.

    I assume that NZ use Hawthorn's logo because of the connection we have with NZ.

    Maybe. I was just reading an article about Chris Pelchen who was (apparently?) the driving force behind Hawthorn's Kiwi connection. He's now at St. Kilda and is encouraging massive investment in recruitment of young New Zealand talent. I don't know anything about this Pelchen chap, but I do know that when I played AFL a few years back, all the contact with the AFL was via Hawthorn and the St. Kilda connection is a very recent development.

    This will upset Hurricane no end. He's concerned about the talent drain and how it might impact Rugby Union. I doubt whether Rugby needs to be particularly concerned. Yet.
