Almost all the way through Order of the Phoenix. Would love to see a prequel series about James, Sirius, Lupin in the school years, the latter two being 2 of my 3 favourite characters.
I teared up reading the first narnia book when they 'killed' aslan iirc. Can totally see why someone would cry reading harry potter.
I cried myself to sleep once when a character died on a tv show once Although I was sick as and drugged out of my mind at the time.
I've never really been able to look at them with much criticism, because being part of the grand fan guessing game that was essentially my introduction to the internet was a huge part of my life. These books were the product of their fandom as much as the cause of it. I couldn't take the films seriously, the cost of adapting the books was removing most of the world-building and detailed plotlines that were imo the entire strength of the books. They were well-made but really, the could have done whatever they liked and made billions on the licence alone. I basically saw them at the level of tie-in console games or Happy Meal toys.
Sounds like a cheap Chinese knock-off or something, like if your parents couldn't afford a Harry Potter book.
Had an argument once with some kid at the school library, wanted to borrow the chamber of secrets iirc, and he wanted it too. Srs biz.
Read the first three, then got bored as fuck in the 4th book, read the first 200 odd pages and nothing had happened. Haven't been back since. Loved Rowan of Rin as a kid.
Does anyoen the scandal breaking about Harry Potter knocking off characters from a book called 'Rah and the muggles' or something? Were heaps of similarities or some such.
