For a fatty. I wouldn't say he is quick, as such.

  2. Eds E Ames

Oh yeah, because Carrick has never passed the ball forwards? Good one.

Yep. Anything else would be a joke.

Rooney isn't quick. He may be for his size, but he isn't quick in terms of World Cup players. Defoe isn't that quick either.

Of course he's passed a ball forwards but he's hardly an incisive player is he? He's npt particularly good defensively and he's not a creative attacking threat he's just a meh player.

That's a really farcical statement and would love to know how you could defent it.

And Rooney is quick, he's not electric but he has more than enough pace to break away from most defences and Defoe is pretty rapid tbh.

In our entire World Cup qualifying campaign, Ashley Young played 1 half.
Milner only made 3 appearances but they were in our last 3 qualifying matches, so one is obviously ahead of the other in Capello's mind.

You want at least one player with electric pace in your squad, especially if you have the choice.

  6. Eds E Ames

And Joe Hart has played 0. You seem pretty sure he will go...

  7. Baxter MJ Deane

Walcott, Lennon. Other teams do well without a player with electric pace.
I don't think Agbonglahor should go but more importantly I just don't think Capello will pick him.

  8. Baxter MJ Deane

He's been in terrific form this season. Agbonglahor hasn't been recently.
Oh and I'm not sure, just I think he'll be picked for similar reasons to Walcott back in 2006. Going to the WC will do wonders for Hart as he will eb England's number 1 prettty shortly.

Hart's actually been named in the squad the same number of times as Young.

Walcott shouldn't go. SWP is far better. So is Lennon. And if you are taking Walcott, you are taking him as a striker with electric pace. Which Gabby does a better job at.

No, if I'm taking Walcott I'm taking his as a winger. He's definitely better than SWP, arguable about Lennon.
If Walcott hadn't been injured at the beginning of the season, he'd be England's number 1 right midfielder as he was since his hattrick for England up until the point he got injured.

  11. Eds E Ames

Obviously you haven't watched a Man City match this season. Also, Lennon is completely out of Walcott's league. Lennon has Walcott's ability to run the ball at pace and he can actually cross it. Same with SWP.

  12. Baxter MJ Deane

Walcott's a much bigger goal threat. He's not an orthodox winger, though he can hug the touch line but Walcott is so so much better at running at his man, coming inside and getting into the area. I rate Walcott as a much bigger threat than SWP definitely.

And I have watched City matches this year, just haven't been particularly impressed by SWP.

Whatever, you can all sit in here wanking over SWP, Lennon, Carrick, Young and Agbonglahor is you want.

    Bizarre.

Joe Cole being forgotten in here, obviously need to play matches but has an outside shot of making the plane.

  14. Eds E Ames

SWP and Lennon are more than capable at running at their man, and can actually cross it, which Walcott can hardly do compared to them.

  15. Baxter MJ Deane

Yeah because England are reknowned for all those headed goals we score. Walcott's a better pick in England's system, Cappelo likes him, had he not been injured he'd be the first choice right winger. He'll definitely be on the plane.

Milner, Walcott, Lennon and Cole IMO. If Cole's not fit then possibly SWP/Young.
Though I'm still not sure as Gerrard will start on the left side, so we don't need too many wingers.

Honestly Marcuss you are talking massive shit about Walcott. You are massivly over rating him. Hes got nothing on SWP.

And Joe Coles not just got a shot, he will be on if he plays more that 3 games in a row. Same with Hargreaves.

Its like Jonny Wilkinson, they may be a bit risky but because of their abliilty if they string a few games together they will be selected.

Walcott is not going to the WC as a right winger

SWP, Lennon and Beckham are making the trip before him

  17. Eds E Ames

A right winger needs crossing, end of. Especially if you are considering taking two big men instead of one.

How the **** do you know Capello likes him?

Joe Cole? You mean the one that's made 2 starts this season? Veri, if you think Hargreaves will go, you are ridiculously confused.

I don't know how the **** you can say Carrick is one dimensional.

Great defender (he is a DM), and scores good important goals too. Cool finnisher. Not to mention he's genious with the ball at his feet. Underrated by England IMO.

I don't think Walcott should go tbh. Lennon is far far better, and SWP is better too IMO. But then I don't think Gabby should go either. Young is also better than Walcott as a midfielder.

I don't think Lescott should go either tbh. Brown, Johnson, Jagielka (on last seasons form) all better than him.

If Beckham plays right wing I'd be rubbing my hands as the opposition left back.
Cappelo has favoured Beckham in a more central role since taking over and rightly so as there's where he's been playing most of the time for Milan.

Hargreaves has run out of time IMHO. United have 16 league games left this season and Hargreaves is nowhere to be seen, he doesn't just have to play, he has to prove he's fit and actually play well.

If Walcott doesn't go I'll eat my hat. Not only because he's better than SWP, not only because he was England's first choice winger before his injury but also because in a WC squad you need some versatility, and if we get struck by an injury or two, Walcott can be deployed as a utility striker if needed.

    Beckham will also definately go.
