With how popular the series is on Cricsim, I'm curious as to what your favourite book in the series is. I'll probably be in the minority here in saying I prefer A Clash of Kings to A Storm of Swords. >_>

A Storm of Swords is pretty much the best book ever.

  3. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

    Agreed.

Although very nearly voted for the last option. Apparently if he dies he won't allow anyone to finish the series for him, but has told the producers of the TV series what he plans to happen.

Ugh, it just won't be the same if the series is completed via TV rather than book. :(

AWTA. GRRM should do what Robert Jordan did and let someone else finish it. It's what the fans want George!!

  6. Skippos SM Morgan

He's got 2 more left, so if I lives to about 73-75 he should finish. I bloody hope he does!

  7. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

He takes about 5 years to write one, with the next one due in about 3 years. Just need 8 more years!

I definitely think the TV will catch up though

Depends, ASOS is getting two series' and AFFC & ADWD will probably get 4 between them. that's 6 more years. By that time TWOW will be out and get 2 series and it'll be 8 years.

I'd be more worried about the in show characters aging far more rapidly than they do within books.

Nah makeup is gun. Its more likely the older ones will die than the young ones get too old imo.

    Only ones to worry about are Arya {spoilers} Bran and Rickon {spoilers}

  10. Toolman TR Man

    wut is dis?

  11. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

A Song of Ice and Fire.

The series of books behind the Game of Thrones TV show

  12. Toolman TR Man

never heard of it. good storyline?

sick of reading books that are supposedly good but are nothing more than a show off of writing skills or some philosophy, i just want a good plot

Its incredible. Fantasy, but I know people who are not keen on fantasy to have really liked it.

It's only very mild with its fantasy elements though, which is refreshing imo.
Not like LotR or something where it's just like "Ahh, elves, ahhh dwarves, ahhh midgets, ahhh dragons and shit, ahhh ringwraiths, ahhh smegel"

It's just like "Here's a bunch of people, oh and the occasional dragon or zombie or whatevs"

    I'd like to read these.

How long are they on average?

  16. Chewie JA Chewie

    Around 1000 pages

Most fantasy is like that nowadays really. A bit of magic here and there but mainly just men dealing with the issues and weakness of men. (no homo)

Or at least the stuff that I read and have heard of.

bought the first 4 books, do me proud

  19. AVA T Delonge

Definitely ASOS. I thought ADWD was great as well, but I think that was more the fact that it just had all the interesting characters, which made AFFC much worse.

I dunno, I loved watching Cersei fuck up everything. :p
