English Football 14/15

Top night at Madejski last night!! Incredible atmosphere, and huge props to Bradford fans. Didn't stop all game, and contributed hugely to the atmosphere.

 

Yeah, there were fans from both sides being tits. the streaker came out from the block next to where I was sat and the steward down there was an old man, so he definitely picked where he was coming from. Apparently one of our fans threw a flare into your fans at the end too, which is just stupid. I don't mind a pitch invasion at the end (we've not got this far in the cup in 88 years, plus we were 2 weeks away from administration in the summer, after 2 years of financial woes) but throwing flares is just stupid. Think one of your fans sent one back too.

 

They did a pretty decent job over our end (I was opposite the away fans) but they were seriously understaffed over your side. For some reason, they put a shit ton of proper stewards (the ones who need actual qualification) on the south west side of your fans (near the exec boxes) and left a gap over there between fans, instead of at the south east, which is where our rowdiest fans are. There were 6 I think going up the whole stand at the south east! That McCleary thing was awful but handled well and pretty damn quickly. I think something was thrown at Feds at one point too, which isn't good to see. Also, just ftr, it's not been 88 years since we made the quarter final, we last made the quarter final pretty recently, when we still had Gylfi Sigurdsson, so 2010 time, iirc. Not certain on that.

Easily the best atmosphere I've seen at Reading since probably 2007 though, which is incredible.

 

Just read there have been 4 more arrests since Monday as a result of the match. Though that isn't right. There have actually been a few arrests. The reading fan pitch invader, a Bradford fan at 7.20 for drunk and disorderly behaviour, and bradford fan was arrested and cautioned cause he had a firework, a bradford fan was arrested because he had class a drugs on him at the game, there was the bradford fan arrested for racial abuse, and reading have appealed to reading fans to try and find who threw the flare at the bradford fans, but I doubt they'll find him.

I can't believe how many Reading fans are going nuts about the pitch invasion tbh. The groundsmen at Madejski are top class, we have rugby and football there every single week. One rugby game does far more damage than a pitch invasion.

You can also see from the vine linked in the article that it is definitely him throwing it. You can see his mates green jacket with fur lined hood pretty damn clearly on the vine, just inside the edge of the box, slightly inside the line of the left hand post. Hopefully he's caught and gets a ban. Doesn't need a life time ban, he's only young, give him a 5/10 year ban and that'll sort him.

 

Yeah you definitely could, but it's a pretty tough job to keep up football and rugby pitches.

I'm hoping we can hold our own tbh. Think we'll go for it, and it's the cup, so anything can happen. Buzzing for it tbh.

 

Haha tbf, whilst I'd be gutted to be out, I wouldn't mind watching that haha. That night I thought there was no hope, so went out to a jazz bar in Manchester, checked my phone and we were 4-0 up, I couldn't believe it!

 

Fucking hope we can breeze through the semi, it would be typical for us to make a hash of Reading. Don't think I have shat myself quite like the Wigan game this year at least.
