    Love you now btw...

Had hoped when Gus signed with Penruf that we'd hear less of him.

Credit to Hannant tonight. I thought he was soft against Manly, but he really stood up tonight with McGuire getting injured not long into his match.

    Really?

Of all the no-hoper commentators out there with the rugby league analysis abilities of a bag of cashews and you want to hear less of Gould?

I can definitely understand why Queenslanders hate the bloke. Hell I was pretty pissed off with him last night after his stupid comments about Hayne. But he's the only one who offers any analysis at all these days. Even if you disagree with him he challenges your opinions and makes you think about them.

Yep. Hannant has to start. He was superb. Thaiday was ordinary IMO.

  5. Alec AD Funkotron

Maybe you should think about your Hayne white knighting.

McGuire is out for 4 weeks apparently. Sucks.

Agreed, but he still looks exceptionally unfit.

I was spoilt last weekend because I had to listen (radio) rather than watch and it was great.

    Fuck

Sterlo occasionaly gives a bit, but agree. I often hate Gould, but he's the only one who will constantly actually give real thoughts and analysis on games, teams and players.

My dad hates Gould so much but he hates everything remotely to do with NSW rugby league as does pretty much every RL fan who were around before the Broncos formed. I don't mind him most of the time but he does talk a proper load of shit on occasion.

Yeah no doubt. But at least he actually forms opinions on the game deeper than "they need to work harder for one another" or "they're working hard for one another". Whether you agree with him or not, he's interesting to listen to when he's not talking about administration or refereeing, which is far more than you can say for the other coms. I can fully understand people hating him, but even whilst hating him you've got to acknowledge that he's actually worth listening to.

I'll clarify actually, Gus the analyst I enjoy. Gus the media personality or agenda driven commentator, I do not.

He needs to stop commentating with Rabs.

I like Gus. Like Sterlo too.

What should our backline be if Hodges is out? Debut Kahu? Move Hoffman into the centres and bring in Kemp or Berryman? Knowing Griffin, he'll probably just put Gillett in the centres.

I think their relationship is cute. Every other sport the commentator is too serious the whole time or tries to be funny here and there and just seems fake when they do it or just fails... like when Ray Hadley tries to copy them.

Can handle it with Sunday footy....that's it.

    1.Hoffman
    2. Berry/Kemp
    3 Reed
    4. Kahu
    5. Maranta

Is what I'd prefer. Will likely be:

    1. Norman
    2. Hoff
    3. Reed
    4. Kahu
    5. Maranta.

Would not surprise me if he put Kahu outside of Reed and put Hoff in the 4.

Gould is by far the best analyst in the mainstream. A lot of what he says is for effect and is part of his and Ray Warren's circus show. But he can size up the situation of a match better than anyone else. He has a feel for what's going on in a match. When he cuts the shit and just states what the fuck is going on without any sugar coating or deference he's excellent. One of the main problems with commentating is that no cunt will stand up and put shit on players or a team for doing something wrong. They ignore it or try to sugar coat it.

Gould and to a lesser extent Sterling are the ones who make genuine criticisms and call the game as it should be...............most of the time.

Well my RLSim commentary would definitely be closer to radio calling than tv calling considering I did it keeping in mind there was nothing to actually see.

AWTA. Problem is the side show....
