Folau was just too dangerous not to make rep sides, he was one of the exceptions to forgiving his shitness in defence. But that's why I always bagged Brisbane for playing him in the centres.

Pretty much on par in my books.

Huge potential......yours could be accepted though as a reasonable argument

    Rejected.

    Hard to split them.....

We know you do. Especially in defence. You just love wingers rushing in and making the big defensive play. :clown:

@ Gemmell. Folau was the best aerial player I've probably ever seen. And he was a great ball runner. Very strong, very hard to tackle.

If truth be told though, I think Inglis is the best winger I've ever seen. He didn't play there long obviously because people think, and I tend to agree, he is too good to be on the wing in attack. He was better even than Tahu and Sing in their prime.

Lazo retired in 99 so I was 11. Carne was a few years before that but as a massive Broncos fan, I used to love Carne. I used to practice cross field kicks in the back yard as a little kid where I was Carne and my brother would be Alfie. Probably half the reason he got in my side.

It's much like selecting Fittler at lock. Neither did it much during the time when I watched footy but they were both too good to leave out and it was a convenient way of getting them into the side.

Yeah I sort of figured it was a compromise, and one, if I'm totally honest, I did myself consider. I would suggest though that Fittler did actually play quite a bit of club footy and Origin at lock through the late 90's i.e. through my, and I assume, your, developmental phase.

I was pretty much just a mad keen Broncos supported until about 2000 so I honestly didn't watch many players from other teams closely until after that point, other than origin. Through this Fittler and Daley got in but aside from them, there's a lot of players in my side from that early part of watching footy that only really got in due to their Bronco connection (Renouf, Carne, Lazo). Those are the five players that played most of their careers in the 90's. I was close to putting Alfie in there and using Johns as the reserve hooker but the more I see of footage of Alf, the less I actually rate him.

Well it just depends on what you value more. In terms of rep footy, Langer was superior but at club level Johns is almost without peer. The act of harmonising the two is a difficult but enlightening one.

Dear god, that's older than my mother

Expect a lot of age insults now.

Yeah. A disclosure of that information, had I previously known it, I would've dissuaded. :p

At least that'll mix it up a bit for the usual monosyllabic plebs and their worn out QLD'r jibes

Ah, the one year when Grothe wasn't a shit player.

  18. Farhat AM Farhat

Grothe was the bomb. He was just never into playing rugby league. Of only he could stay on his wing. Reddy helped him alot.

  19. Alec AD Funkotron

Is he still part of that shitty band he was in back then?

Inglis would be the best I've seen on the wing too, but I agree, he is too good to play there, but the difference is, he is actually good elsewhere. Folau was shithouse in the centres.
    Shinobi. Indeed he is.
