    So how are they contributing before they are selected? What have they done to influence Australia in any way apart from playing in the NRL, which has less of a contribution to Australia and how the country is than many other Aussies who support them?

    Absolutely. But we should at least have the honesty to admit they're irrational. Even my advocated position of being happy about it rather than proud of it is irrational. For example, I'm not going to sit here and act like I support QLD because of any virtuous criteria such as the notion that we have more loyal selectors. Or a better culture internally. Or anything like that. I support QLD because I was raised in QLD.

    I think you can definitely feel pride for your state and country. Pride is feeling a sense of satisfaction because of your actions, choices, achievements, or those of people you're associated with or attached to. For example, if your son played Test cricket you'd be proud. For some, they feel so attached to a group, such as being apart of a state or national community that they can feel pride.
